I am from Queens and had ceremony in queens but reception was in LI. But for picture locations I REALLY recommend Gantry Park and 5 points. ALot of girls on here took e-pics and wedding day pics at both locations.

For bakery-theres sugar room on Queens blvd and Terrizzi's in Astoria.

For hotels-you might want to try the marriott near la guardia airport, its one of the nicer ones.

Its in Sunnyside, right on 40th street. Their prices are alot like some city places and LI places though. The average price for a fondant cake is $7 a slice.

If youre not having a big guest list then it wont be bad so definitely check it out. I would call first, i think you need to make an appointment. He also teaches classes there so have to make sure he is available.

for e-pics you dont need it but for wedding pics you do. The thing with Gantry park is that you have more areas to take pics, its more of an actual park. Astoria park there is a strip which is a small curb right on the water, so you can take pics standing on the curb with the city behind you. At Gantry park you have alot more space and more views of the city. Also at astoria park the park area is uphill and most brides dont go up into the park. So at Astoria park its nice for the view but know that you will only get one type of pic there and thats standing in front of the bars on the curb and right next to that is the street where everyone is driving up and down so its only a small area you can take pics, if you want you can go up into the park but grassy area isnt as big and you might have to go far into the park and walk alot but theres also basketball courts there, tennis courts so know you have just one grassy area section. The permit is easy to get, i also took wedding pics there. Just call the office. Theres also other areas right there you can take pics. We went a few blocks over to 5 points to take most of our wedding pics

I wish there were pics of girls who took their pics at astoria park so you can see and easy for you to decide but best bet is just going to both places and checking it out for yourself.

Alot of girls have taken pics at gantry at 5 points so i can show you that.

Here are some pics of gantry

also very high grass

and the pepsi cola sign

5 points is all graffiti so not sure if you're interested in that. Thats what i did but i know its not everybodies style

Re: **** Official Queens RH Brides Thread ***

here are just random astoria park pictures not from weddings.

Here is the strip that i was talking about, and the pics of the city you take it along that strip and its where cars park to stop so right next to the curb will be cars parked and then the street and across the street is the park area

if you go uphill and go inside the park, there is a trail you can take pics there

astoria park is nice too dont get me wrong. I grew up in astoria and so did DH, so for us astoria park was out of the question only bc it was the hangout spot for so many years lol and just have memories of that. We didnt want to take pics where everyone in astoria comes and hangs out. Also, warning about astoria park, depending what time of day and time of year you take the pics, know that it can be VERY VERY VERY crowded there. In the spring and summer when the weather is nice, the strip is packed and there are cars parked all along the strip and many times its hard to even find a spot to park the car. Everyone gets out of their cars and hangs out on the curb, so if its packed, youre gonna have to tell people to move in order to take pics bc usually the curb is packed with people hanging out in front of their cars. So it can become complicated bc of that. and you'll only be able to face that one way bc otherwise youre going to have pics with all the cars in the way, and also usually theres always motorcycle crews there with 50 bikes parked and doing tricks up and down the strip, so its bikes and cars if you even face the other way a little bit.

Gantry park is close to astoria and although we grew up close by, gantry park and the whole LIC area has only really been built up for a few years and its not like a hang out the same way astoria park is with alot of young people. And you have more angles to take pics since its all in an inside area.
