Any girls diying anything? I've been planning on making my invites and cardbox.

I am so not creative. My Mom is making my CP, mySIL/MOH is making my FG basket and RB pillow. I was going to do a cardbox but realized that I cant even wrap a x-mas pretty, never mind the card box. So I kind of decided against the card box and go by the old Italian traditional silk drawstring bag.(like in the Godfather movie)

I believe that Riccardo's gives candelabras also, so that can be incorporated into decor.

I think that will be on the Dias/Sweetheart table. When I booked, the room I am having happened to be set up with my colors. It looked so pretty.

Oh wow thats great so you were able to see your colors in action. I am thinking of either sage, black and white or pink and brown. I was going to buy candelabras for the sweetheart table but now they give them that is extra savings. I can't wait to book on Saturday!!

I am using Royal Blue and Ivory. It really looked nice in the room I picked.

Hey Queens girls ! I got married at Terrace on the Park..which I cannot recommend more highly they were awesome.

Depending on the sixe of your wedding a good choice might be Verdi's in whitestone..they have delicious food and wonderful service had my shower there and they are more reasonable than alot of places.

Russos on the Bay Ive heard is awesome
Marina Del Rey right over whitestone bridge Ive heard great things about
Leonards is right on the li/queens border and is bbeautiful..

what is your price point again I forget?? Im gonna brainstorm

Hey , Congrats !!!!!! Terrace on the park is gorgeous. I looked into Verdi's but they dont have a bridal suite . Russo and Leonards are both way above my budget unfortunately. I went to Leonards for a wedding and it was really really really nice. I was looking into a place that was offering pp $50 with tax and gratuity included.

Verdis also has a location in Westbury (but that defeats the Queens threads purpose ) There is a really nice VFW or KOC in Flushing I will try to get you the address...how many people are you having?

They have full bar and have busboys and everything just like a catering hall..the inside is beautiful also. I would defintly check it out!

Did Riccardos ask you for a minimum? I am inviting 75 and my minimum is 60. They original wanted 70 but that didnt give me much room for 'no's'. So again they accomodated me and brought it down to 60

They only asked me how many guests i said 70, he then offered me the tiffany room for evening and the starfire for afternoon.

I have a question. I always thought that your bridal shower was supposed to be a surprise. I am noticing alot of brides knowing when the showers are going to be. Is this something I dont know about?

OHHH Espo I am so glad you posted those pictures of Gantry. I called Shea Stadium yesterday, and they told me that no one is allowed near the site now lol When they told me it was okay for us to coem and take pics near the new stadium, months ago. Anyway, I am so glad I thought about doing something else.

I think Gantry park may be the way to go. Thanks!

it is a surprise. Some brides want to know so they ask and get involved. BUt even when it is supposed to be a surprise, the reason alot of brides know is bc they find out somehow. MANY times people slip, i had it happen with me and somebody told me just a few days before my shower. I was upset but what can you do. Not only that but when it gets close to your shower, its very easy to figure it out. You can guess when its about 1-2 weeks away. Most things off your registry are gone and people stalk their registries. You also realize when you see LOTS of things coming off in a short period of time

But I am also seeing girls planning their own showers. Where to have it etc.

I guess its the new trend. Most brides already have their hands full of controlling wedding things, that maybe they feel thy want their shower to be controlled as well.

I wanted to help out with my shower only b/c I hate having people do things for me. I always feel like I am imposing, but I had faith in my FMIL and my cousin. They did a great job. I actualyl didn't want to know when it was, but one of my co-workers who didn't even come, slipped up and while we were waitign at the elevator one day , said' Are you excited for this saturday?' I said 'what's this saturday' she said 'your shower' ...I was sort of stunned..and I just blew her off like '...I guess' blah blah blah lol

I'm planning my own shower.

My MOH's are both students and my parents don't make much also, the tradition of bridal showers is new to my parents- my mom has only been to 1 wedding in her lifetime.

I figured paying for the hall would allow my MOH's and mom to focus on decorations/games and not stress about finances. I'm actually having my shower down the block at Riccardo's- YAAAY Queens!!

We are going to pretend it's a surprise for the sake of our guests.

We share the same wedding date only 1 year apart
