'Oh, but you have plenty of time!' Uh, what?!

Okay, whenever I talk about the wedding to certain people, they all tell me, 'Oh, but you have so much time before the wedding.' As you can imagine, none of these people is married!

Seriously, while 3.5 months used to seem like SO MUCH TIME, in the world of wedding planning, it really isn't!

Or am I just nuts?! I feel like there really isn't much time left and SO many things to do!

Am I the only one who (1) gets told this repeatedly and (2) feels like those saying it are nuts (if well meaning)?

I mean, yes, it's a lot of time to say... make programs... but not when you have 50 other things you also have to do (uh, like pick out a veil!)

ETA - This is all in good fun. I know the wedding isn't around the corner, but it's SOON... and I don't think people realize how much planning and time is required... Not to mention the fact that FH and I work a LOT, so we do all the wedding stuff either late at night or on the weekends...

OMG yea, I have been hearing that since we started planning...a year didn't seem too early to begin plannign a wedding to me, but everyone else seemed to think so

yeah people make me laugh= they would say, oh you booked that already or you did that already. they dont realize how fast time flies- and yes u are right, not many of them have gone through a wedding yet.

I completely understand what you're going through right now. I have under two months left and I going completely insane. In the beginning, it seemed like a great idea to make DIY CD favors and menus, but now they're driving me crazy. Every time I come home I see the unfinished menus and favors taunting me!! What I thought would be a quick project is turning into a month long thing. Then everyone tells me how much time I have left and I start to list off all of the other things that need to get done once I know who is coming.

And you're only a month before me! I'm still being told it's so far away.

I was told 'I have plenty of time' to do placecards and programs just a couple weeks ago!

They actually said 'I'd do them the a couple days before the wedding' (obvious sign they have no idea what's involved!!!)

It's fine... ignore them. When it's time for them to move and they're beginning to pack a couple weeks before hand, just tell them they have plenty of time and do it a couple days before

either that or they have been married for 30 years and dont remember or things have changed ALOT!

Hah my bets friend is getting married 3 weeks after me and has like NOTHING done! She just ordered her dress in january and now is freaking out because its not in yet. Nevermind I have been on her for months to go looking.

She poked fun at me about how FH and I planned everything way in advance, but now we can sip beers during happy hour calmly lol while she and her FH are fuguring out what to do! As far as weddings go, slow and steady does not always win the race.

You only have 3 months left...in wedding talk, that isn't much time.

People have been saying that to me for the past year and they continue to do it!! I know that I still have 249 left, but people don't my schedule or FH's which are totally insane right now.

For instance, we started re-doing our apartment in January. We have not even finished yet and it's almost 5 months later. Everyone was like, why are you rushing?? We have so much going on this summer and fall that we NEED to get things done now.

The worst part is explaining myself all the time people. Ughh. I cannot wait until it's December and I can say now is it time?????

i got that sooo much. It annoyed the heck outta me. Its like 'um, have you ever planned a wedding before?...it takes more than a few weeks!'

Now i just get 'oh June, wow, its coming up soon, huh?'....i like hearing this one much more

It's funny that you mention this. For me, it's the other way around. I just tell everyone 'the wedding is so far from now, only 3 months. no big deal.' I say this to family and friends who are taking their time with getting dresses, bridesmaid dresses, suits, and other things. It seems to make them work a bit faster than normal. I think that's great. I'm not going to worry about anything anymore.

I'm so glad I'm not alone! My mom, hell, my family all laughs at me the way I'm down to business. My mom couldn't get over how soon I got my veil and how on top of things I am. I always got the same thing 'oh you have so much time!' It's better to just get this stuff done before it bogs you down! This way we're not out of our minds the weeks before the wedding!

I'm with ya girl!

I met with our wedding planner today and even she said 'Oh, you have plenty of time!'

Happy birthday! (Well, really early - because there is SO MUCH TIME before then! ) Seriously, though - happy birthday! It's one of my coworkers birthdays as well.

They don't really get to me - I just wonder sometimes if I'm nuts or they are!
