Oh, got a glove question...

I am considering wearing long gloves with my gown. I am wondering...when you have the ceremony does the ring go over the glove? Do you take the glove off? What is the etiquette with the gloves? ALso if I wear gloves do BM's need to wear them too?

Re: Oh, got a glove question...

You can make a small slit in the glove of your ring finger and pull your finger out at the appropriate time

Re: Oh, got a glove question...

You can wear it over or you can get fingerless ones, or you can get the one where the finger comes off your ring finger . I dont think if you wear gloves that the girls have to.

Re: Oh, got a glove question...

Fingerless..sounds like a motorcycle thing. About the slit though, after you pull the finger out the fabric just dangles there or do you put your finger back in..I'm thick please explain...

Re: Oh, got a glove question...

I had gloves just like the ones above, but mine were matte satin, not shiny. I loved them bc i got to wear gloves yet have my hands/fingers free. I wanted to feel his hand holding mine when I got up to the alter - not through a glove!

Re: Oh, got a glove question...

You can also get opera length gloves that have a row of buttons at the wrist, they are designed so you can take your hand out of the glove and tuck the hand part in. I used this style glove and it worked out fine. I purchased them on ebay.

Re: Oh, got a glove question...

I am wearing elbow length gloves with full fingers in them. I dislike the slip your ring finger out approach and personally like the look of the full glove versus the fingerless ones. So here is my plan: we are having a long Catholic mass, so right before the vows/rings, after the priest's homily I will discreetly take my gloves off and then hand them to my MOH. Then during communion when there is a bit of distraction I will slip them back on.

Re: Oh, got a glove question...

Thanks! I hope my plan works and I don't look like I'm doing something freakish on the alter! I think the only way to do what I'm doing is if you are having a long mass...I'll be sure to report back on how it works!
