OH MAN!!! I just paid my bills....

Original post by Sandradv121

And I have a serious problem with spending money. No joke. I'm a bride who is having a big wedding with a spending problem. Ugh. I literally just paid my bills for this month and I was like what the hell did i spend all this money on?

I think I need a finicial advisor. Really. My Mastercard and Visa have so much milage on it. I can't stop spending!!!

My goal was to set aside a certain amount of money each month, but that money that I am supposed to be saving is actually being spent on my damn bills!!!

I need any tips on how I can save some money. I feel like the more I save the more I spend!!!

Help

Ugh I totally feel your pain!! The only thing that helps me is to have a portion of my paycheck deposited into a separate account and convince myself that I make less money then I actually do. LOL

This was a very serious problem for me for a long time. When FH and I moved in together he wouldn't have it. He took all my credit cards and left me with one for emergencies that only has a $500 limit so I can't do serious damage.

I would suggest a few things:

1) Have FH take all your cards

2) If you have a huge balance on one, enter a debt consolidation program

3) Get another savings account at a bank that has horrible hours and then have a certain amount from your paycheck go there.....this is the way I save money, the credit union has the worst hours I can never get there and I don't have an ATM card for the account either, its strictly for wedding.

Self control ladies!!!! By things you need and not things you want or have to have. Use credit cards for emergencies only.

you have to set a budget and stick to it! leave cards at home - and when you are going to actually make a purchase, really really think about if you really need it. FH and I pay our bills first and then save the rest each month. its hard but we know in the end it will be worth it!

i have a horrible problem too. i kept using my credit cards a few years back, got into debt and paid it off. i used cash only for things however once xmas rolled around, i used my credit cards to get the cash back and such and am now in debt again.

i'm slowly paying EVERYTHING off AGAIN but just found my debit card is my friend.

i set aside a $100 weekly to use for groceries and such and whatevers left over, i just roll it over to the next week. i know i have the right idea and can really do it (along with anyone else) but its a matter of beating it into your brain that you CANNOT spend frivilously and get yourself into debt.

I'm really good about not spending money and FH is exactly the opposite. We cancelled some of his cards for starters. Also, he isn't allowed to touch the bank account. Not the business account, not the personal account. Whatever money he gets from private teaching he can do whatever he wants with otherwise he feels like he can't spend anything and he puts whatever he needs on credit otherwise. I don't carry much cash because I spend it too freely.

Dont worry you are not alone, I got a second job to pay for my wedding but it keeps going to bills. My mother is taking a certain % of my check now each week and not letting me touch it for my wedding! I love to go shopping
