Oh no - Should I change my invites?

Original post by Shorty McBride

We just got FH's cousin's invite this weekend - I am a little concerned because its sooooo similar to ours.

Some background - groom's Mom (FH's aunt) is terminally ill. The couple dated for a short time, got engaged a few months ago, and are getting married in July.

FH and I chose these invites in November! And I described them to the other bride at Thanksgiving. I don't know if she doesn't care that they're so similar, or just didn't remember....I don't feel right asking her.

This is the invite we chose: (its all pearlized with a pearly filigree border)

And this is the invite they used: (only the border is pearly - the background is flat white)

50% of our guests are the same...if you were in my shoes, would you look for a different invite?

On a side note: FMIL got her invite first (ours had the wrong zip) - she tells me, 'Wait til you see the invite - could they have picked something uglier!??! Sooo boringggg'

I felt like crying!!!!

I don't think they are similar at all, go with your gut!

i'd prob leave it.. no one really remembers the invite except for those few people that do..

your wedding is in november and hers is in july so theres time between..

you liked this one so i'd just keep it.. do you really want to go thru that whole process again??

jmo

I definitely agree!!

same here! Stick with what you like! No one is going to remember what her invite looked like by the time they get yours. They will just be so happy to be getting it in the mail! No worries!

My opinion...if you liked the invitations you had chosen, get them. They are similar, but honestly, I like the ones you chose better.

I'm sorry but I would get new ones. OR add accents to ur invites to make them different like rhinestones or a bow.

Thank you ladies - I'm choosing new ones.

FH and I are going to go hunting on Saturday.

Thanks for reaffirming my gut feeling, as always!

Just like other brides says, if you haven't order it yet, then I guess you can start looking for a different one but don't waste time and energy looking for a new one if you really love what you already choose to get. Remember, you hardly see people keep invitation once they receive it..they normally take the date, place and time and you'll be lucky if they keep your invites by the time of wedding.

Don't sweat small stuff

It's just invitations, it's not like you're wearing the same dress and having the wedding at the same venue. It wouldn't be a big deal to me. You should keep the ones you have.

I'm late as usual....looks like you made a decision.

Lushy...like other posters have said....in the end, no one remember the invites. They go in the trash(minus your and some family members) and they will be sent out months apart so no one will remember.

But if you get new ones...just get ones you love..no matter what. If it looks like someone or not.

The thing is...invites are invites. There are soo many that are alike. And in the end...people just need to know the time and place to show up at.

Your wedding is going to be 'so off the hook', no cousin's wedding will live up to yours
