Oh no - Should I change my invites?

Oh no - Should I change my invites?

We just got FH's cousin's invite this weekend - I am a little concerned because its sooooo similar to ours.

Some background - groom's Mom (FH's aunt) is terminally ill. The couple dated for a short time, got engaged a few months ago, and are getting married in July.

FH and I chose these invites in November! And I described them to the other bride at Thanksgiving. I don't know if she doesn't care that they're so similar, or just didn't remember....I don't feel right asking her.

This is the invite we chose: (its all pearlized with a pearly filigree border)

And this is the invite they used: (only the border is pearly - the background is flat white)

50% of our guests are the same...if you were in my shoes, would you look for a different invite?

On a side note: FMIL got her invite first (ours had the wrong zip) - she tells me, 'Wait til you see the invite - could they have picked something uglier!??! Sooo boringggg'

I felt like crying!!!!

That suc*ks!!!! They are different, but to be honest, they look similar. I'm afraid that if someone was looking for the invitation they could later pick up the wrong one by mistake and take it with them (directions or whatever).

I think in this case I would pick a different invite - I'm sure that's not what you want to hear so I'm sorry!

And that suc*s that your FMIL made that comment too! Maybe she was just trying to make it seem like theirs isn't so nice because yours will obviously be better (despite her not having seen yours yet).

i'd prob leave it.. no one really remembers the invite except for those few people that do..

your wedding is in november and hers is in july so theres time between..

you liked this one so i'd just keep it.. do you really want to go thru that whole process again??

I would go with the ones you like regardless of what the other bride picked.

So they're similar. That's really not a big deal and honestly, most people won't notice. By the time your wedding rolls around a few months later, few people will remember her invites.

Go with what you love, especially if you already ordered them. If you haven't ordered them, look one more time, but go with the invite you LOVE, even if it's the one above (which is gorgeous by the way!)

To be honest, unless she saw pictures, I doubt she could really fully visualize what you were describing to her when you described the invites. It's one of those things you have to see to really know what they look like. I'm sure she didn't choose her invites on purpose to upstage you.

My Mom thinks I should choose new ones too.

I like these too, but FH doesn't like them too much....

Is your wedding in November and hers in July? If that is true and you love your invitation, I would keep it. I think there is enough time between both weddings that they won't notice. Besides, you will probably frame your invitation and you want it to be the 'one'. not one you chose because someone else had yours.

Me on the other hand, future cousin in law is getting married in June and I am in August that is way to close. The common family will have both on their desks.

i think the invites you chose are beautiful...not boring...if you love them than order them...who cares if someone else used a smilar one..or what FMIL thinks of them... if i let FMIL dictate style the wedding would have mirror & twinkle lite CP's...haha

thanks - the paper quality isn't the best though.
#1 and #2 are the same - its just that #2 is on a pink background for some reason.

Although I really like the first one (of your new choices)......Don't go through the hassel if you love the one that you have already. They are close but not the same!!!!

I agree.

(I just wasnt crazy about it having a pink background).

Also, I have never paid attention to the paper quality of any invitation Ive ever received. hehe I dont think anyone notices or cares but you. Mine feel kinda thin, but I dont give a hoot!

Not a big deal. I wouldn't stress about it.

I reallllly like the new option(s)! I think they look so different but still elegant and beautiful. Maybe your FH would be ok with them even if he doesn't LOVE them?

I would order new ones since you haven't ordered something already. This could be one of those times in life when you'll find something better than what you were originally planning on and be thankful you were in the situation to change your mind.

They are similar, but I think it is fine! Especially if it is what you love!! The invite is beautiful and you can definitely tell the difference between the two. Honestly I wouldn't worry. If you were to worry about everyone else, you would make yourself crazy! I know I would! I have just recently been to three weddings and I have 4 more before ours one being my first cousin three weeks before mine! If I was to worry about everyone else I would definitely lose my mind! Go with what you want and love!

If you love them and had your heart set on them, I would keep them. IF you were iffy then I would look for new ones. Sorry - that probably doesn't help much.
