Oheka Castle

For anyone using Oheka Castle or considering it, I am going to a black tie function there tonight and will be glad to report on my experience. Let me know if you are interested...I am already booked at Flowerfield but will be glad to give you my thoughts.

Have you found a photographer yet? What ones have you looked at?

Any one else out there getting married in September? Just kind of wondering if I am on track or falling behind with all of my planning.

Not Really. I don't even have a date yet. I am just trying to gather as much info now so when I do book a date I'll be able to do everything else quickly.

Are you looking for anything particular with photos? I noticed you posted that you used Imagine before. Where they not good?

I know there has been a lot of bashing of Fine Art but I was MOH in a wedding that used them and the pictures came out great.

Ayanna - photography suggestion

Ladies. I just had the most wonderful experience ever with a photographer. Myself and my fiancee met with over 27 studios. WE went to patken and Booked Doug the owner tonight. The man will make you cry with his photos. He's won every award there is and knows he's good, but he well worth the expensive price tag.

My point is that regardless if a particular vendor or catering hall is getting a lot of good or bad 'posts', take the info as a good start. Honestly girls, who cares where the message came from. As a first time bride I know I needed all the help I could get. But I know I would rather keep my personal information, personal. No need for the girls who seem to frequent the board, tell me that because I post so little, they be deemed uncreditable. And just because someone posts late at night, doesn't give anyone the right to accuse them of being a vendor. Personally, I don't work with computers during the day, so the only time I have is at home.

Oheka Castle...HHHMMMM

Gina,
be careful with your name, because gina is getting married in march at villa lombardi, so you might want to specify and use an initial, or something, or something.

Misha, How Was Oheka Castle ? (long)

Sorry, I got really busy and didn't get a chance to post. Went to Oheka Thursday night for a black tie affair--work related. The cocktail hour was very nice. It was in the room off to the right. Food was great, passed hor 'dvores (no idea how to spell that) were really good! There were about 180 people there and although the table set up was fine--not too cramped, there was definitely not a lot of room for dancing--not to mention the band there was only a 3 piece. So I would have to say I would try and keep the number to 160 or so if it were my venue. The service was very good all around. It rained that night and since there is no awning, a lot of people were standing around the doorway waiting for cars and it took quite a while for that-maybe they didn't have enough people on. But that was really the only downside to the night. Hope this helps, if you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to try and answer them.

Yes, we had dinner. It was a choice of Filet Mignon (got mixed reviews--some very tender, others overdone), Stuffed Chicken (everyone loved), and Chilean SeaBass (this was my choice and it was delicious-others thought so too). Definitely plenty of food, especially at the cocktail hour. They did have the jazz/cigar thing at the end but it was not very popular (remember, thursday night-people had to work the next day). Service was good everywhere. Young staff but very accomodating. Cocktail seating was a little limited but then, they are meant for standing so I don't think anyone complained! Again, overall, everything was great except for maybe the valet parking. The grounds are beautiful and I think it will make a beautiful wedding location--just keep your list down unless you don't want to dance!
