I know Oheka seems to be one of the reception place of choice except for the cost - can anyone tell me just how expensive it is? Is it comparable to Carltun? I'm trying to get an idea compared to what we are paying for a Saturday night wedding at the Atlantica in June....Thanks!

Re: Oheka - just how expensive
I'm not sure how much they charge per person but I know there is a site fee in addition to the catering bill somewhere between $8000 - $10,000. I could be way off but I've heard $150 and up per person in addition to the site fee. I don't know how much Carltun is so I can't compare.

I think that the pricing sheet they gave me said $250 pp (plus service, tax, site fee) for a Saturday night in peak season. Don't know the Carltun's pricing.

It is definetely more expensive than the Carltun--You cannot touch OHEKA @ any time of the week or year for less than $250 pp if not more. I could be hallucinating but that is to the best of my knowledge!

A $15,000 site fee!!? (And I thought the Bourne Mansion's $4,000 site fee was a lot!)

Wow - I thought I was paying towards the high end with the Atlantica but I stand corrected - thanks for your input! I guess I won't complain about the costs - it's just that everything is adding up so quickly - much quicker than I thought. I think I recall Carltun starts around $215 for Sat. night.

Re: Oheka - just how expensive
i went to a wedding at oheka a few years ago. i don't know oheka's site fee. however, at the time, i heard the site fee was $3000 and the cost pp was around $200.
the wedding was amazing. the CH was outdoor/indoor. the indoor portion was in the library. after the reception ended, there was a cigar and cognac hour back in the library.
the food was awesome!
also, the bride lined the double staircase with votive candles!
btw...my mom priced out the lessing vanderbilt...they have a $7000 site fee! doh!

Oheka... Site fee is $9000 FRI & SUN, 10,000 SAT. It varies bet $250 & 300pp depending on what there prime is. I was looking for OCT. it was $300. If you consider a dec, jan or feb wedding it is $150pp. Guarentee on sat night is 200.

When I shopped them, I was quoted 250pp plus tax and service and a 10k site fee. I had no problem paying 250pp but the site fee I felt was out of line. I am having over 300 people so that got crazy

I disagree. I was there for a work catered function and it was UNREAL! the food, the atmosphere, it was AMAZING!!!!! pulling up to the castle in itself is overwhelming. I'm not sure who told you that, but I find it very hard to believe.

Re: Oheka - just how expensive
Oheka is probably the most expensive place to get married at on Long Island. That said, the entire experience is quite impressive from a guests perspective. Everything from driving up to the gates to staying in the hotel. The upkeep on that place must be insanely expensive so I can see why they charge so much.

As a mater of fact, I had a conversation with someone yesterday who recently went to a wedding at Oheka and they also said it was a beautiful place, but not worth the $$$...she said the food was not too good and the actual ballroom is not as nice as the rest of the place. Another friend priced it recently and said the site fee was 10K and starting price pp was $300 before tax and grat.
The carltun quoted me a price of $210 pp before tax & grat. for a Sat night in June.
I have heard nothing but amazing things about the Carltun, but the price was too much for us.
Having said all that...I think that all of these reception places are way overpriced!!!
just when i was getting happy

everyone has their own opinion. Don't let that ruin your experience with your wedding. You must have chosen the place for a reason, don't let anyone spoil that! I know my wedding location was not anywhere near the elegance of Oheka Castle and hey, that's okay because for ME, it worked and was exactly what I wanted.
Be happy and proud of your choice, no matter what anyone else thinks!!
