I have heard the saying that everyone is a Democrat in college and a Republican when you start collecting a paycheck.
Then how does that explain Democrats in Hollywood - many actors never even attended college ??!! Ya gotta admit - its pretty scary when Ashton Kucher is telling you how to vote.
I just want to say that I am one of those actors who never attended college (well, I went for 3 semesters). I can assure you that just because I do not have a diploma does not mean that I am uninformed or uneducated. I just chose to look outside the box for my source of education. As far as Ashton Kucher goes, last I checked he was an American and has a right to voice his opinion like everyone else.
I didnt mean to offend you but all I am saying is that I think Hollywood and actors are given way too much credit in their views and are put on a pedestal simply because they are famous. Of course Ashton and anyone else has a right to display his opinions...but sometimes I think those Hollywood opinions are valued more in our society and should not be. Also I never said you were uninformed or uneducated - someone directed that comment towards Bush voters.
And I highly disagree that people who vote Republican or Bush are uninformed or are uneducated because that is simply not true .

I've been doing the same thing Don. I'm glad to see that someone else is as horrified as I am by some of the posts on this thread.

I think people with higher education vote for Kerry because they're more informed about the facts. Some people who vote for Bush do not know all the facts, and may vote for Bush just because they support the war and not give a crap about gays' or women's rights.
Well, then gosh darnit, I guess I am just one of those unedumacated stupid Bush supporters oblivious to the facts--which apparently is the divine province of liberals.
Gosh, maybe I'll also try to get out of those pesky student loans since apparently 7 years at Princeton and Cornell Law School still kept me in the dark about the 'facts.' So as to not be called stupid in 2008, next time I'll consult Ben Affleck and P. Diddy who I should vote for.
Please.... I am at the point where I can only laugh at all the comments by liberals that Republicans are dumb, red neck, Bible thumping bigots!! God forbid....somebody has a different point of view from these great enlightened ones!! Honestly, I think they are all just cranky because they lost. And lost Big!! Hell, even Tom Daschle is out!!

TwoBugs - thank you very much for saying this. After a while, you begin to generalize and assume that all Kerry supporters are acting like this. I appreciate you letting us know that this is not the case.

First, I think to assume that just because people have a higher education means that they are more educated and better informed is well, uneducated and misinformed.Second, politics are not a Black and White situation. When people's core values are at stake I don't think that your education level matters much.
Basically you can look at all the statitics you want, but sometimes they are flawed. Following the stats coming out of the exit polls on Tuesday I should be celebrating my canidates win.

Re: OK for Kerry supporters, you will like to see this...
higher education does not mean SQUAT.There are brilliant people out there who have not been to college. You can get informed from everyday life so education is not a pre-requisite to make an informed choice between candidates.
My question to violet is this..what do you think makes a person ..'informed'?

Re: OK for Kerry supporters, you will like to see this...
I base my opinion of the people that I know of who voted for Bush. Some people do so because they are white and know Democrats are more for the minorities. That is my experience of people I know of, I don't mean it about everybody.

Informed means reading the papers. I don't mean that as highly educated really. I meant people who are some smart and informed with what's going on in the world. I myself didn't go to college.

Gosh THIS post was really just for fun..... and to lighten up the atmosphere a little. If we all thought the same way the world would be pretty boring, wouldn't it? Glad to see people support their ideals, although we should all have a right to our own.Yes, agree to disagree.....

lol we are anything but boring.
Violet..to me being nformed is not just about newspapers or what we see on tv..those sources can be tainted..it can be a combination of reading, seeing and for many living.

By the way, I have a BA and 12 credits towards a Masters and voted Republican so![]()
The way I see it, is it depends on how you view yourself in the world.. if you think that at the end of the day-it's your wallet and checking account, then you'd probably vote Republican.
But if you more socially aware, then democratic i guess
And you cant be both socially aware and care about your wallet??? As I said in a previous thread, I don't think raising taxes and letting govt choose which social causes they are going to fund is the answer. We are taxed enough - there are other ways to being socially aware - like donating time and $ to a specific cause that interests you not letting the govt take your money and decide for you.
Well, what happens if people don't want to give money to a specific cause- do we let kids in inner city go w/o breakfast because people didn't want to give to that cuase that year?
I think that it is to risky- and just as conservatives say government has interest in unborn children- i.e. against abortion, so should government have an interest in taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves.

.
True....but I think to assert that Kerry voters are 'more informed about the facts' is also, well uneducated and misinformed. Not to mention, exceedingly arrogant.
