Should I disenfect the desk? I know there isn't much I can do but I am SKEEVED out!!!

Last summer we found some crawling on a hallway wall between offices. WHY did the first one have to appear on MY DESK this year!!!!
I am sitting Indian style on my chair. I am skeeved....

Holy! I would quit. I can't take stuff like that. I would clean the desk, roaches are disease carriers....and I would complain to the company!
what did you do when you saw it? I would have fainted.

I had a panic attack!! Poor FH was laughing on the phone! RRR... I am in tears right now.
There is nothing the co. can do. I work in Rockefeller Plaza. Can you imagine how many of these fawckers are crawling around between the walls! EWWWWWW But to crawl on my desk!!
GEEZ I am so itchy!!! What if one crawled on my bag and I bring it home with me. OH many I will freak!!!!

It is not funny but we use to see them all the time in my office because we are on the first floor and pretty much right over the subway. Once one fell from the lught fixture above one girl on my staff's deak. She had her back to it and didn't see it. I was like don't turn around - and killed it for her! Me and one other girl in my dept use to always kill them for people - the guys in my dept would run! LOL
Then this crazy office manager wanted us to keep them and freeze them in the company fridge because he said the exterminating company wasn't believing we still had problems....the fridge where people put their lunches. He had a bag of them in there. Of course, I never participated in his craziness! And I never used the fridge - but that is disgusting!
Luckily, I haven't seen one in awhile here!
Should've called me- I woulda killed him for you!

When you live with a man who does this for a living believe me I have horror stories that will make you never leave your shower.
Its gross and the only thing the company can do is get an exterminating company. I would definatly contact the HR department and let them know or ask them how to let someone in the CEO's office so this situation can be resolved.

cw- I didn't want you to think you situation wasn't bad because I know many people had the same reactions as you do. It grossed me out but I think I became immune after awhile but if I ever see a rodent I think I would stand on my desk for the entire day!

Eeewwww...... When i worked in the city...I was the lucky girl to sit under the roach 'hotspot' in my office. They used to drop out of the ceiling all the time on my desk. The grossest was when I was eating my breakfast and antenni came poking out from inside of my printer!! there was a HUGE one in the printer. Sooooooo gross.........

Oy! I had a job like that, they were no joke like 3 inches long!!! SOOO GROSS! Make sure your handbag zippers so that you dont bring any home!!!

Our office had both problems..Mice and bugs. The computer guy would catch the mice, name it, keep it in a shoe box, take a digital picture of his little friend and email us the picture and release them in Central Park...what a weirdo! I can't deal with the bugs or the mice...we shouldn't have to work in such horrid conditions!

I have heard plenty of stories. I have never lived in a home with these things and to see anything like this grosses me out.. I can't believe people can live having these things walking around their homes. EWWWW I am really skeeved...

Ok you are all grossing me out!
I remember when I used to work in Melville, we had a mice problem in the building. Exterminators set trap everywhere.. those little glue trap thingies. We used to see mouse droppings on the counter in the little kitchenette area that had. It was pretty gross, but I was a HUGE animal rights activist back then and I actually felt bad for the poor little critters being killed in the traps! Even today, roaches gross me out a thousand times more than rodents do. My FH has a python, and he has to feed it live rats.... it kills me... I want to rescue them
Insects are just VILE... thank God I haven't ever seen any roaches where I work now. And we have a big cafeteria in the building! So far, so good!

When you mean open food do you mean sealed bags with those clips too? I have cereal I just bought this morning and I clipped the bag.
Should I throw that out? I chucked the container that was sitting on my desk. And my spoon too.

we have a mice issue, sort of. A guy near my area caught 2 mice. He spray paints them and releases them in an elevator on the first floor

open food like if you went to McDonalds and got fries and a burger then had it sitting on your desk that you would definatly chuck.
