OK, I think I'm officially insane...more honeymoon debate

So I booked our honeymoon (a 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise)..now I'm having second thoughts and for $70.00 I can cancel it and book somewhere I REALLY want to go...

am I crazy for starting all over and paying $70.00 to cancel our reservations on the cruise?

I really want to go to Sandals in Bahamas. the big catch is that it's about $2300 more than the cruise. What should I do?

FH is leaving this all up to me. he said he doesn't care where we go, or how much it is. The only reason I chose the cruise in the first place was because it was only $1700.00. + air fare. Bahamas will be $4000. what would you do?

I personally would choose the Sandals in the Bahamas. A co-worker went there on her honeymoon and said it was the greatest ever! Especially that it's all inclusive so you didn't have to hand out money left and right. Everything was taken care of for you. Sounds good to me!

On a cruise, you're constantly going and going by a schedule of some sort. I plan on relaxing quite a bit on my honeymoon. JMO. To each their own.

that's exactly what I want to do-relax.

I don't really think you can do too much of that on a cruise when you're constantly on the move, and only spending a few hours on each island.

Actually I would be the cruise-you can chose to do as little or as much as you want! I feel you'd have more options than the Bahamas-the boat has a bunch of things, you can do excursions or not and see more places (or not!) :)

I'd pay the 70 bucks and go to the sandals resort.

I been on both & personally I think it depends on what you are looking for.

You cannot beat the food on a cruise & there is always something going on (IF you want to do something) or you can choose to relax by the pool the entire day. You get a feel for e/ island but as you mentioned are only there for a few hours.

At Sandals the food can be better & the rooms are very nice & there are also activities going on all the time & they try to get you involved. It is all inclusive which is nice.

Also realize on the cruise that the tours from e/ island run about 75-100. pp per tour. Also drinks tend to be expensive, and you have to pay tips to the crew, so the cruise will add up as well.

Remember, it's your hm, you have to do what you and fh want to do & what you'll enjoy.

I'm biased - we booked a 14 day European cruise. I left it all up to FH. He wanted to see Rome, Athens and Pompeii, so we are.

I say go for it.

Personally I would stick with the cruise...Some people don't realize that on a cruise you can relax as much as you want! If you choose to be constantly on the move, then it can be very unrelaxing...When FH & I went on our cruise to Bermuda, we did 2 excursions & then relaxed the rest! It is all up to you!

My brother did Sandals Bahamas & he was not that impressed. The food was good but he said it really was not worth the money unless you are a bigtime drinker....

FH & I were just in the Bahamas in Oct 2004 & I was not happy with our experience there. To me, it was very dingy with exception to Atlantis

Can you work out a deal with your travel agent? Maybe they won't charge you if you are still going to book thru them.

cruises are mint! but they are inexpensive and you can take them anytime. We usually go twice a yr.

Go all out and do Bahamas.

thanks for the input girls!

We decided to cancel the cruise and go for Sandals in Bahamas. (I can't use the same agent because I booked the cruise thru a 'cruise only' travel agency.)

FH wants me to start a post and ask about the food there. We went to Secrets in DR and we weren't impressed by the food or restaurant selections.

My co-worker said everything couldn't be better! She didn't have one single complaint!
