i am not baptised and never had a communion or anything like that. does anyone know if the churches do this for adults and if they do how long everything would take and how much it costs?

thanks

Don't be embarrassed! Most churches have an adult program. My fiance is taking classes right now in the Catholic church. They started in September and they are once a week. He will make his First Communion and Confirmation on Easter. If you call your parish, I'm sure they have information on classes. They are called R.C.I.A. classes. (I think it stands for Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) Good luck!

It doesn't cost anything.

Yes they do......

Are you not originally catholic? If not you may have to officially convert. To get married in a Catholic church they require that you have been Baptized, had first communion, confirmation. I know first communion is done around the same time of each year as well as confirmations. Baptisms are done year round. You should inquire at the church you plan on getting married at.

thanks girls. my father is catholic and my mom is protestant, and they only baptised one of my brothers and not the rest of us.

thanks again

My mom is Protestant, Dad Jewish, me Catholic. I went through the RCIA program. I got baptized, had my communion and confirmation during the Easter Vigil a few years ago. I think it took me about a year for me...I went to a class once a week at night, and a second class after mass on either Saturday or Sunday (they rotated which one).

Good luck. FM me if you need more info.

why do you want to get married in the church if you're not affiliated with any church?
change of life?
or is your FH insisting a church wedding? if that's the case, you can definitely get married without having to go throuh all those motions...especially if you're not interested in doing it for yourself.

my fh isn't insisting i do this, i want to do it for myself. i'm not doing this only to get married in a church, because my sister got married in the church and she didn't go through any of that.
