denise - some people have not a clue so their posts bear no credibility. unless you own a home on long island, it's really hard to pass judgement about what a home or a 'trailor' should cost. some people have a whole lot to say about some homes, but don't have anything to call their own.

This thread was not meant to cause controversy, but as always a fun thread turns to drama.
My apologies to any who I offended.

I know, I can go out tomorrow and purchase a home, call me lucky, (?) but we choose not to because I do not want a huge mortgage because I hope to oneday be a stay at home mom and not have to worry about big mortgage,so we'd like to have a big DP, however, as rlivings said, the outside can be very deceiving and the land can be worth nice money, this is why this thread was JUST FOR FUN only.

well it's really not just for fun when you are obviously posting a home that looks quite similar to something that someone owns, right???? just think about it for a minute.
... so it's ok to post a home that you feel isn't worth the money but NEVER ok to post an opinion on a particular vendor? hmmmm... vendor which costs $500 - $5000 v. a home which can cost $150,000 - $500,000
yeah... that makes plenty of sense...

Let's put this into perspective for a minute....is it a FUN thread when you see your house on it and a comment that 'it looks like trailer'?

Mind you, the pic wasn't my house to the letter but very similar as I stated so that kind of took the 'FUN' you are speaking of out of it for me personally. Again, that's just my opinion but I am entitled to it. AS Jenn is to hers, Shamma is to hers, Joeslauren etc.

I agree with Shamma.

Just because we dont own homes does not mean we dont know anything about home ownership.

I do NOT own a home, but I happen to know a lot about mortgages, estates, deeds, fees, land, appraisals, etc...

Just b/c someone does not own a home does not mean they dont know anything. A lot of ppl happen to do a lot of research.

So just because you do own a home does not mean you know more then someone who doesnt.

I can't believe how this thread ended up. I have to say I was offended from the beginning with this thread which is why I stayed quiet.

I was offended mostly because a lot of houses posted are capes, which is what I now own. I feel along the same lines as rlivings. My house was well over $300 and still needs work (siding, kitchen, etc.) is it livable (not a word) now? YES! I do NOT think we wasted our money. One of the best investments is real estate and DH and I opted to invest rather than waste our money renting.

So you say that this thread is FUN, ok, for you, which goes back to joeslauren point, but for those of us who own houses that look like ones posted, it's a little upsetting.

ETS - When I say YOU, I'm not pointing to any one person, I mean YOU as in plural for those who thought this thread was funny...

There I've spoken, don't know if it makes sense!

Oh boy...... I am so sorry I said anything. Just kind of sucked to see my house described the way it was.
Granted, it is not big, maybe not even beautiful to some but it is OURS and we are happy and lucky to have it!!!
