Re: Ok... My mom has a Macys card...

Melissa- I am feeling very upset at your BMs. No shower- what is wrong with them. I honestly feel sorry that they have treated you this way. No matter who young, or what their finacial status they could have gotten a small group togther for lunch at one of their homes and given you some small fun gifts. YOu should say something after this is all over.

Re: Ok... My mom has a Macys card...

Actually that was the point. I AM worried that people won't receive it, because it has happened in the past where I've sent emails thru LIWeddings and people have not received them. I don't want to go tit for tat here, just wanted to explain myself - which I have.

Ok, I never had that problem, so I take it back. I'm sorry.

SomedayBride: Ok... My mom has a Macys card...

I'm with Marnles here--I sent NYC a forum mail based on one of her other posts. But, not to cause further issues, I do resent the 'childish' remark as well. It just happened to be an appropriate time to let her know I sent her something.

Re: SomedayBride: Ok... My mom has a Macys card...

well...I thought the reason that this post kept popping up to the top was because you had such great ideas for Melissa..I had no idea...

I have to agree with SonicStef on this point...give a thoughtful gift...

my cousin was on a very limited budget...no limos...only a nice car for her and her hubby...I had to get myself from location to location like every other guest...thats one way to cut back on your budget, since it seems like your Bridal Party isn't very supportive...why spend money on a ride for them AND a gift...

anyway...my cousin bought me the most beautiful gift in the world and it was not pricy, but so thoughtful...It was a poem...to me specifically about being her cousin...It was framed with pressed flowers and still hangs on my wall 4 years later...She had someone do this for her, but you can easily do it on your computer...get some nice paper...write something special (although I'm not sure what to write to your BP members...) pick some flowers from your neighbors garden (j/k get a $5 bouquet at the grocery store) press them in a book for a week...and then frame them all together...

also I bought my wedding earrings nice CZ and big enough to cover a scar on my ear that I am self conscious of...for $10 at Target...

what about a book? or GC to B&N...I know I would LOVE that!!

there are so many things you can do for less...

Re: Ok... My mom has a Macys card...

This is really getting out of hand

Yes, forum mail is for private messaging, and no one knows who's sending mail unless you're the recipient, but with the public posting back and forth about who was forum mailing who, it was as if people were talking behind other's backs - whether that was the case or not doesn't matter - it's how it was perceived.

We should all just move on and finish planning our weddings! This has always been a great board with helpful advice - we shouldn't ruin that!

Happy Planning everyone

Re: Ok... My mom has a Macys card...

Teri- I do agree with you, and normally I don't partake in petty things like going tit for tat. But, I just wanted to say that although it may have been perceived as people talking behind others' backs, it was uncalled for and a complete insult to me to be referred to as childish. There was no room for a misperception in that case, it was blatant name-calling, and so I felt the need to defend myself. But in my opinion, at this point, it is done, because I explained myself and the poster understood my point.

And just as this case was perceived incorrectly, many times I think what people write can be as well. Although some may have good intentions in what they write, without voice intonation and facial expressions, it can come off in a way that was unintentional.

I agree that this board has been a wonderful place for advice...and of course wish everyone the best as well...

Re: Ok... My mom has a Macys card...

trying to see this all impartially...I did think the forum mails were a little 'tit for tat' only b/c there was a winking smiley next to it... (IMHO)

Re: Ok... My mom has a Macys card...

I like the frames and/or pics idea! Do you have a Homegoods, Marshalls or TJMaxx near you??? They carry great frames sometimes (just gotta' keep your eyes peeled). They even sell pretty gift bags & wrappings for under $2!

Hell, those stores carry nice vases & crystal gifts as well.

Target has nice frames too!!!!
