Ok, really dumb question

When in your contract with the hall you are paying a 15% gratuity, do we have to tip above that to the Maitre'D and what not?

I'm confused....

Not a dumb question but at least at my hall, yes, you still have to tip the maitre d on top of the gratuity

So much money!!!!! Ahhhh...my parents are paying for most and my FIL's are contributing, but it still stings to see them spending all this money.....

This bugs me as well. The 15% gratuity actually pays the salary of the workers and they don't see a dime of it. I used to work in a catering hall. The only tips we made are what the bride and groom handed us or guests. It is ridiculous and a way for the hall to make more money.

One of my friends who works at a catering hall told me this. It is just wrong and the people who win out are the very rich owners of the hall Grrrrrrr
