Ok sitting at my desk fighting back tears...

Ok sitting at my desk fighting back tears...

Please tell me if I should not be upset. From my office I invited my two bosses and my best friend at the office. We see each other out of the office all the time and we go to lunch all the time. Seriously, one of my closest friends since I started working here 2.5 years ago....

So yesterday my Mom got a response that our mutual friend Tina responded no. So I had and inkling that my co-worker/friend Debbie was going to respond no as well. Well today Mom got the response and she is not coming! I am seriously floored and so disappointed and hurt. I feel awful. Meanwhile the 3 people from my office never once said hey we got the invitation it is nice, etc, etc. So I am really upset. Should I not be upset?? I mean she never even said anything to me? Please be honest, maybe I am making something out of nothing

I would be upset but I dont think I'd share my feelings with coworkers about this. People who aren't getting married don't know you have to compliment the invitation or talk about the wedding. Don't be too upset, there will be plenty of other people at the wedding - you won't miss those two!

well..I guess its pretty bad being that you have a close relationship with this person. i invited a few people from work only because i get a long with most and the others..well...to be honest i felt it was either all or none. to me..i could care less if they all said no...but this is different. i guess we all just expect poeple to be as nice and thoughtful as we are...meaning....even before I was engaged I always appreciated things like invitations and complimented them and that sort of thing....I guess its really your call...if you really are hurt maybe it would be better to get it off your chest and say something

I think I am more hurt that she didn't just tell me and say hey I got the invite but I don't think I can make it, I'm sorry. I mean I don't even need a reason, just tell me to my face if we are supposed to be this close ya know??

I would be upset! And since you're close with her and see her everyday at work I would have expected her to say something in person to you about not going.

I would talk to her tomorrow about it. Sorry hun!

ETA: She did know the date right??? I mean she works with you... so why wouldnt she tell you this earlier?

The more I think about it, the more I'm getting annoyed for you!

Yeah thanks...I mean I guess it is money related which is totally fine. Like I said I don't need a reason it just would have been nice if she gave me a heads up ya know?

OR you could make her feel really guilty and really start crying so she notices.... then when she asks you what's wrong... you lay it on her.

i agree. i'm sorry you are upset. it's important for us to have people around us that we care about and i'm sure a BIG upset when they won't be there.

if its someone you are close with i would talk to her about it.

If this is your friend and you talk to her everyday I would be hurt. I honestly think it's retarded she never even mentioned getting the invitation. Maybe she has a reason for not saying anything, who knows. But still I would def be disappointed and upset.

Yeah, I think that s*cks. I can't imagine just saying no w/o any explanation especially since you are right there. .unless it is money and they are embarrassed about it. . but still, they should have said something. .

Sorry. .. . I might bring it up with them, just say - hey did you get my invitation, and not say that you know they said no yet. .. . see what they say, that way you can open the invitation w/o talking about feeling bad that they aren't going. .

Yeah I am really annoyed that she didnt tell you to your face! I would say like, ' I got your no response card. What happened? Is everything ok? I woudl have assumed that you would come.'

See what she says... I bet that she expects you to not say a word and to be let off the hook... but there are non-confrontational ways to bring this up and I think you should...

Personally, I would not be able to be the same iwth her if I didnt just say what I was thinking...

I would be upset also, more about the fact that she didn't even acknowledge the invitation verbally. Maybe just express your disappointment by saying' I am so sorry you can't make it, I really enjoy your company' then see how she reacts.

Maybe since $ is too tight nowadays, she just felt she financially cannot do it.
