OK so I have been away from the boards for a while because I have been feeling like I am drowning.
OK so I got my taxes done finally and although the number wasn't exactly what I had hoped for it was still enough to cover most of the expenses left plus get me started with flowers.
OK well the acct calls and sas I am being audited and my check being held because my sons father claimed my son as well behind my back.
I call him up and say what is wrong with you? You knew I was claiming him and you know I am getting married in 7 weeks
He says 'Oh well too bad sux for you!
He did it on purpose because he knew the money would get tied up and I would get scr3wed!
Obviously he cannot come to terms with the fact that I am getting married
So now I hve to figure out where to get the money from for the vendors I already have booked
And flowers I have no idea what to do now

Hopefully they'll audit him too and they'll find out he owes all sorts of back taxes or something.

oh my gosh! that's so terrible!! i can't believe that! how long does the audit take? that's such a manipulative and awful thing to do to someone! i'm so sorry that happened to you! i hope everything gets fixed fast. hang in there!!

Just an idea, but a few months before my wedding I found myself quite a bit behind. I opened a new credit card with 0% interest for six months and immediately after the wedding I paid it off with some of the gifts I got. ANd because of the money I put on the card I earned points and got two free plane tickets to Florida. So it was a win win for me. It's something to think about . I'm really sorry this happened to you. Hope this helps Nicole

You girls are so sweet it is unbelievable how you all have such nice things to say and such helpful advice.
Since we are being audited I had to send in prrof that my son resides with me all year.
As for the money they said it will be tied up for several weeks I have no idea what to do we are looking into taking a loan from a family member I hate to that but it is too late to cancel!
As for my agreement we never had one we were never married and have always been civil now I have to go to court to get it all legalized so we have NO mishaps in the future!

i hope it all works out! i know it must be frustrating to borrow from someone but its completely out of your control! its going to suck going to court, but in the end you will feel better knowing that its on paper and will protect you from things like this! good luck!!

Yikes! That stinks! It's really sad when ADULTS can't act like such! And by that I mean him not you. Why go out of your way to try and cause animosity between you and him when there is a child involved? It's when people do things like this that causes all those problems between ex's.
I'm sorry he did that... that's very slimey of him to do! Your son lives with you right?
I hate to even say it.. but can you do a loan or LOC or credit card to cover it then pay it right back when you get the tax money from your son?

Oh so that answers my Q abuot where you son lives.
Definately get it legalized... becuase you never know what people will do esp when it's out of jealousy.
I sorry! I know that must INFURAITE you! I soooo would me! Actually I'm a little ticked off at your ex for doing that to you! And I don't even know you or him! ha ha!

Oh and one other thing.. I heard they hired a crap load of new auditors bc the gov't is in a bind and needs more money so they will be doing MANY more audits this year... with that being said... hopefully having more auditors working maybe your audit will go through quicker.

First off- Who has been claiming the child all these years? Second- who has custody of the child? Third- IF he pays child support- Do you give him receipts?
This is all a BIG factor- and i am disappointed that your accountant didn't take stress to you how important those answers are!!
I am not a tax genius- but i do have somewhat knowledge of the system....

I know it's probably not what you had in mind, but FH and I are pretty broke, so we are getting our flowers from Stop and Shop. We aren't having flowers for our cps so it's just the boks, coursages, and bouts, but the one in Deer Park does nice work, and it's cheap!

I am so incredibly sorry you're going through all of this so close to the wedding, it seems like you are in the right legally and you WILL get your money eventually, and although it sux that you might have to take a loan, it may be peace of mind knowing that you'll get the money and can pay that person back right away. Some people are so childish and can't stand to see others happy, and in the end, they are the ones who lose out, as they'll spend their whole lives alone, being miserable and pushing away good people, like yourself, be happy you're away from him, you're going to have the wedding of your dreams, f him and his misery!!!!!!!!!
