Ok so I've been putting this post off.....LONG!

Original post by Mmnnng

So its final....the wedding is being called off and I dropped off an application for an apartement for him yesterday.

I just can't bring myself to stay in this marriage anymore and our first wedding was so simple, just us, that I really wanted to create such wonderful memories at this one and I don't see that happening the way I always wanted....so I've decided to end it now.

I know that I deserve more and he isn't a bad man at all, he is just not the family type. My daughters aren't happy and I'm not happy and frankly I don't think he is either. I have definetly learned that no matter how much money you have, it cannot buy your happiness. I hear people saying how if they had his money they be so happy, but its wrong! All I have is money, not emotional support, not a loving atmosphere, not a shoulder to cry on, not a friend, it is horrible!

I don't wan to end up like my mother or my aunt who stayed in loveless marriages for too long and although my mom got out...my aunt has wasted 43 years never feeling loved. I can't see myself doing that without going completely insane! We tried couselling, granted only twice, but not that I expected a full 360 but I did expect a glimmer of hope, something. I got nothing until I told him it was over and he needed to go, but now its almost too little too late. He is being a completely different person now, but I can't believe that it is genuine since we have gone through this before and it doesn't last. I think that once he is out of the house, he'll realize that its the best thing for both of us! I just know that I can't live like this anymore.

I know that there is someone out there willing to treat me like the princess I am and not take me for granted and that I won't take for granted.

So as far as the wedding goes, I think that I am going to have a big old party...I mean why lose all this money, I only owe a few vendors a few dollars now and I can always just cut the packages to fit in what I already gave them! So I am looking to host a fundraiser so if anyone knows of a child who needs help please FM me!

We are trying to separate on as good of terms as possible. It is working ok for now but next week may be different and he can be back to his old self all over again...so wish me luck. I'll still be lurking around these boards because honestly, it keeps me sane!

Thank you everyone for everything! You have been wonderful during all of this and I couldn't get through it without LIW!

I know so many women who would have been so much happier if they'd had the courage to realize what you were able to see. I won't say good luck, since you have all the ability and resolve you need. Instead, congratulations on starting your new life, I'm sure you and your daughter will be very very happy.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this! You should be extremely proud of yourself! Not many people are strong enough to do what you are doing! I'm sure in time you will find the happiness and love that you and your girls deserve. Good luck with everything.

I am so sorry that you are going through all of this. You had to do what is best for you and your children.

Before I met FH I was in a 7 year relationship that was going no where. He told me he loved me but something inside told me that he was only saying it because he thought that is what I wanted to hear. I finally decided that I had to leave or I would go insane. Yes, I did second guess myself and at times I wanted to go back to him. But after some soul searching I realized that I made the right choice because I couldn't go on the way that I was living anymore. I knew that there was someone out there for me and a couple of years later I met the man of my dreams, my wonderful FH. I know that you will find someone that will treat you the way that you deserve to be treated.

As far as a fund raiser, there is an organization called YAI (Young Adult Institute), they work with young children and adults who are mentally handicapped. It is great organization and they do lots of good work, Here is their web site http://www.yai.org. I am sure that they would like to work with you. You can also call either St. Judes or Susan G. Komen foundation as well.

I hope that things work out for you!!!

Thanks everyone so much for all the love & support! Its really great to have so many wonderful ladies & thier wise words!

As for my fundraiser....I am currently leaning towards St. Judes Children's Hospital. I think they are amazing and am sure there are so many children who could use a little help! I do love the autism idea but couldn't do it in hour of one child as we have a few autisic children in our family and amongst our friends.

That being said, does anyone think that Newsday would help me get the word out for free?? I figure it will be a cocktail party w/ of course the dj I already paid for and whatever else that I've paid for. I have no problem adding a few more $$ to the event and am not seeking to make my money back as all donations will go directly to the charity of my choice.

Thanks again everyone!! Love ya all to pieces!

Melissa, Newsday may just do this. I used to work in PR and have spoken to several folks over there ... let me think about it and I'll FM you with anyone I think can help! They may want to write a story about it ... but I think they would leave the details about your situation out of it. I will see if I know anyone in advertising there too, they may run an ad for free too.

Also, I think you can always list an event in their calendar for free. News12 will also list things like this on their website and tv channel for free ... and you should also write / call Anton Newspapers and the local pennysavers, this week, things like that as they would all list them in the events calendar. Some also write little blurbs about things like this for free. (All newspapers should never charge you for calendar listings.)

Also: look into children/family papers like Big Apple Parent, Queens Paren, etc. Hospitals and schools may put up flyers in their hallways, at their info desks, etc ....

YOU ARE SO AWESOME FOR DOING THIS. I wish I had half the strength you do

wow I am sorry you are going through this...and i see that you are beig calm and collected and you must know that this is right for you...

i think if you kno its the right choice then i commend you for being strong and having a big party.

why not raise money for cancer or something that has affected your or a loved ones life and put it into research for that?

good for you. everyone should be loved completely..loveless marriage before marriage is not a good way to start.
