OK - spinoff alert - who met their FH at an unconventional place, like Starbucks?

When I mean unconventional, i mean not set up, not in college, HS, etc - but in a chance meeting at a place unexpected...

My FH and I knew some of the same people, but every Monday at the starbucks in huntington there was an open mic where I read spoken word poetry. That is where we met!

we met the first time during a company softball game (I was wearing oh-so-attractive softball gear, but he liked the Yankee hat)... the second REAL time we met that actually LED to something was at a party at a Mexican restaurant in Huntington (which has since burned down... but I'm NOT taking that as an omen. lol). It stinks that we can't go back to the restaurant where we met, though! It's no longer there!

If your talking about the place on Main St - I forgot the name - its a little further east now - like centerport area - so you can still go...

No... this one was ON 110, I think. Further up from Pancho Villas, though. I know there was one on 25A that ALSO burned down (man... what's with those Mexican restaurants burning? A little LESS sizzle on those fajitas, please!). I want to say it has something to do with 'Margarita' in the name (which happens to be my favorite drink!... OOH - maybe the MARGARITA will be the signature drink at our wedding since we met at a Mexican restaurant?? Hmmmmm......

One of my BMs met her FH at Boardy Barn - which I think is SO funny.

Fh and I met at Island Rock CLimbing Gym in Plainview where he worked part time.

where FH & I are always talking about doing that again, we did it last year on a cruise?

Sort of conventional - saw him at the gym and I had a huge crush on him... UNCONVENTIONAL - he came in with a woman once a week, I thought it was his Mom... on a whim after my BF and I had broken up, I told him I had a crush on him and asked him if he wanted to go out sometime... then he told me who the woman was that he was at the gym with -it was his WIFE!! THAT was embarrassing... We still said hello to each other in the gym and after about a month he told me she moved out and they were getting a divorce and he asked me out!

FH and I both tutored for AOL 6 years ago. We worked different shifts, but cause of a schedule change wound up in the same room one night for 10 minutes during a shift change.

The rest is history :)

how embarassing, ok here goes...FH and i met while working at McDonald's, I was 17 and he was 18. We lived in the same town but went to different high schools. oddly enough we hung out with some of the same people but never met. we met 2 days after i graduated from high school and have been together ever since. everyone makes fun of us saying he should've proposed at the same McD's over a plate of fries!

I am still in wonder in how we met..... I had put up a Yahoo Personal as a JOKE between friends.. i never intended to reply to any of them... it was more like a confidence boost

Anyways I was EXTREMELY obsessed with the band Oasis at the time (still am not EXTREMELY thou) and I posted a pic of me in my Oasis tee at a concert....FH got an email from Yahoo telling him that I might be a match for him.. and he pulls it up and goes 'OMG its the OASIS girl!' apparently he had seen me at Oasis concerts ( i get around) and swear to God, WISHed he could find someone like me!.. he actully saw me getting on the train in Penn Station after a show!
So he emailed me and I was shocked to bits that someone actully knew who Oasis was, PLUS he tells me that his liscense plate on his car reads OAS1S and mine reads OASIS 72! Turns out we live like 15 minutes aparts and never seen each other!! It was totally amazing, we met in Port Jefferson one humid June night and we have been together ever since!!!!...

We met at a convention and met again when we were promoting the hot 97 jam. We don't really like to listen to hot 97 but we loved it when we were there.

We met through an online music fan group. On our first date we went to Long Beach (the actual beach) so we always go there.

Love reading this thread...well ours is sort of conventional but funny....he was in a band (in DC) with my friend from High School (NY)...the reason I became friends with the guy in HS was I was dating someone in his band from HS

Could not get his attention so put a missed connections ad in the paper (that is the unconventional part I guess) that shortly led to a date....and seven years of dating!

We met on the LIRR.

Between our ceremony and reception we went back to the Merrick LIRR station to take pics of us and the bridal party, they came out awesome and mean so much to us!
