OK - spinoff alert - who met their FH at an unconventional place, like Starbucks?

When I mean unconventional, i mean not set up, not in college, HS, etc - but in a chance meeting at a place unexpected...

My FH and I knew some of the same people, but every Monday at the starbucks in huntington there was an open mic where I read spoken word poetry. That is where we met!

we met in nursery school. for real.

we went to nursery school, elementary, middle, and high school together (where we finally became friends), as well as college. We got together a year after graduating college....

i love telling people i met my love while we were finger painting. And, we are definitley sending our kids to the same nursery school!

We met at the beach!
It was actually a beach party. One of the girls I worked with at Applebees invited a bunch of us, her friends had a tent at Smithspoint. (Turns out she was in charge of bringing the chicks!).
I wasn't expecting to meet anyone, I actually figured her guy friends would not be my type, based on her type. Glad to be wrong!
He proposed to me at the very spot we met on that beach!

we met the first time during a company softball game (I was wearing oh-so-attractive softball gear, but he liked the Yankee hat)... the second REAL time we met that actually LED to something was at a party at a Mexican restaurant in Huntington (which has since burned down... but I'm NOT taking that as an omen. lol). It stinks that we can't go back to the restaurant where we met, though! It's no longer there!

He answered my ad which was titled ' Complete with a set of steak knives!', and ever since then he has been asking me where's his steak knives.

So on our wedding day after the BM and MOH speeches, I will make my own speech thanking everyone, and then telling everyone how we met, and then.....in front of everyone I will present FH with his set of steak knives!!

We also met online (over 6 years ago now!) He imed me through aim, just by chance, cause he saw I lived on Long Island!

it's called Doll's. There's a new Doll's somewhere else in New Brunkswick, but the old building - gone.

mine proposed at the spot where we went hiking for the 1st time - not yet together - sort of a date but not really, but it was when we realized we liked each other!

If your talking about the place on Main St - I forgot the name - its a little further east now - like centerport area - so you can still go...

we met on a year long study abroad program (conventional), but didnt really start to talk and stuff until a skiing trip 5 months later with friends (unconventional?). i thought he was so cute that i would find out where he was going thru friends (we had the same group) and made sure to go when he was there.

At the Bulldog- Lifeguard Night-- both of us were wasted and were acting nutty-- I told him that if he could correctly locate the cigarette I smoked (I no longer smoke), I would give him my number-- he did, and the rest is history!

VERY sweet! Love personal touches like that to throw into the reception speeches!
