OK, Volunteering Update, I picked a cause, who's in?

start doing volunteer work. Does anyone else do any? And does anyone know of any organizations that are in need of people to help? I've just been wanting to volunteer for a long time, but was honestly too busy, and now that I have the time, I really think I should.

I have also so wanted to volunteer somewhere. I am in midsuffolk. WHat exactly is Habitat for humanity?

its the organization that Jimmy Carter started...where you get togther with others and help build a house aloing with the future homeowners. They have to put in a certain amount fo time on the house and then then get to buy the house for a very little amount.

Ok, so Habitat for Humanity we have:
Me
Lisa Rose and hubby
Lora and hubby
Colleen
Cindy(?)

Anyone else?

You have to be at least 16 to participate in Habitat, so I don't think you'll want the little one around all that construction! But maybe we can come up with something else for those who'd rather work with kids or the elderly (I REALLY do have a lot of free time! )

Where is this located and when would we meet? I might be able to join but I need to know time and place so I can see if it works in my schedule.

Ok, they meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The day is from 9am till 3pm. They have locations in Bellport, Huntington Station, Centereach, Central Islip, and Mastic Beach.
I can do it any of those days and any of those places, so maybe if everyone can tell me a day that is good for everyone and maybe a site.

I work M-F so Sat works for me. I live in Huntington so that would be *perfect* for me...but I wouldn't be opposed at all to other locations.

SAturdays are good for the DH and I also.

Let me tell you what he said to me when I told him that we were going to do this....'We have alot of stuff to do around our house....why dont you see if y ou can sign some of them up to come and work on our house'



I was like are kidding me?!?! I really couldnt tell if he was joking or not!! It doesnt matter...we are still going to do this!!

rachael... i asked fiance and he goes ' i dont want to be responsible for builting part of a house, what if i dont do it right..
