This is an excerpt from today's Daily News -- apparently they want to 'get the Mets out of the way' because the 'real' rivalry is coming to town next week. What an insult!!
They're gonna get more than they bargained for
The Yankees kicked around several ideas for a makeup date for the rainout of last night's Subway Series opener, but they ultimately preferred to play the Mets twice tomorrow instead of using up Monday's off-day because the Red Sox are coming into town next week.
'We wanted that off-day before the Boston series,' GM Brian Cashman said, making it clear which series the Yankees consider the big rivalry.

Ahh. well, better luck for us at Shea hopefully...at least they didn't sweep.
