Okay, it's my turn!

I just opened the bill from cable. My Optimum Online just went from 34.95 last month to 49.95 this month. Are they nuts? When I called to inquiry if this was correct the not so nice woman on the phone said that's the new price. No warning no nothing just an increase to fifty bucks a month. I think it's time to look for a new solution here at home. Any suggestions?

Is that legal? I mean, you signed for a certain price and suddenly they change it without notice, maybe it was in fine print on your previous statement? That wasn't very nice of them...

Can you get Direct TV with thier satellite modem...? not sure how much it is though... what about DSL

How long have you had Optonline? My Aunt signed up for it a few months ago and the lower price was only in effect for 6 months, then it went up to the higher rate.

You would think that the more people that have it the less it would be huh? No...just the opposite...they keep signing people up for it and raising the prices.

I love my cable modem and Im not sure I would ever part with it! but I do not like the prices!!!

i think cablevision is the biggest monopoly known to man!! they raise the cable rates without so much as a warning - to the point that my cable/optimum bill is over $100 a month. if i wasn't addicted to LIW - i would have cancelled long ago

We have Optimum too, and our bill is always $49.95 because we are not cable subscribers. (We have cable through our landlords.)

It might be that your lower rate has expired. But when we talked to them, they said for cable subscribers, it should be $39.95/month - always.

We just switched to RCN and pay $100 a month for local telephone service, cable TV and cable modem internet service. So far, we've had great service!!

My Verizon DSL is $29.99 a month- it's their new rate- they lowered it...

Have you thought about using AOHell's DSL Service, and separating your cable and internet? I know that doesn't sound much better, but it might be more cost effective.

oh Cablevision sticks!!! We had 2 IO boxes at our old apt and when we moved they told to bring the old boxes with us. When they came to rehook us in the new apt they took the old boxes and gave us two new ones. The next month I get a bill for $1800 saying I never returned the two old boxes and have to pay. I went back and forth with them for 3 months (them saying they have to research, lying and saying it was taken care off...etc) and finally I had to have my lawyer at work call them and have them fix the charge asap because it was going to affect my credit rating. Jack A$$es.

The good side of it though is that once they corrected the problem they owed me $140!!!

Yes, the whole 'Wellness Department' was laid off. We still have a gym, but there's no one staffing it! One of those 'work out at your own risk' things. It was great when they were here, we used to have a guy who'd come in every week and give massages. I miss him.

I wish I could give you all discounts! If you work for the company you get it all for free... so send in those applications, ladies!! When they're not laying off people, the benefits are incredible!

Yeah I have issues with cable as well - I had a roommate who put the cable bill IN MY NAME without my knowledge. I KNOW the boxes were returned - well - needless to say - I was charged 1800 for them - it is still in dispute -
