So I contact Oksana for our wedding, and she told me i was not able to book an 11 wedding and she would 'keep my email' im not sure I like this, who tells you, you can not book your wedding that is 422 days away?? like really? in this economy you turn down business?
maybe im over-reacting, im just, suprised that one would say that, instead of being happy that your still getting clients
am i going crazy?

no... i would think that uyou should be able to book now. It's not like it's 2 years away... you are almost at the one year mark!

I agree with Jessie. I find that to be kind of strange - its not that far off and more and more people are booking things early.
Can you touch base with her and possibly find out why she won't book you for 2011? Maybe he reasoning will clear up some things for you.

well thats kind of how i felt, and part of me is turned off, like, are you telling me your not booking 11 because you dont know how much you plan on raising your rates? and at the same time, im the type that wants to get everything done, i wanan do my trial, know i like her and get it done. and its like, ive heard so many positive things about her and how great she is, and then to get an email like Im not yet booking 2011 but ill keep your email and let you know when i am, and its like, im getting married next year, not two years from now?

I'm in Jan of 11 and she wouldn't book me either. She said she cant guarantee that she will be available for the day....hello isn't that the point of booking and taking a deposit. I was just as confused as you ladies

I am in the same boat. I complimented her work and wrote her a nice email, and asked if I could get a trial, and she writes that my date is too far away and I can contact her when its sooner. Like you girls, I was totally turned off by this and I probably won't contact her again.
I do have a free trial with Sandra Baldini, and Andrea from Lola Loves Makeup seems nice and I may do a trial w/ her.

thats so weird because she was booking 10 brides way before their weddings. Im starting to hate vendors seriously 2011 IS NEXT YEAR!

I had contacted her about a year and ahalf before the wedding, and I was told the same thing. I waited until closer, then booked with her.
I can honestly say she is worth it, she was the only one that I would have trusted, and I am glad I went with her.

10'er crashing ladies not to start drama but relax!!!! she is totally worth the wait. Def one of the sweetest people I have worked with. And she isnt saying no she is just saying give her a few weeks it is the beginning of Jan...Plus honestly you should wait for the one yr mark of your wedding cuz seasonal lighting will effect how you look in certain colors and you want her to match your trail as close as you can to the day of...TRUST ME! I am REALLY OCD and had everything booked way in advance!!! except for hair and make-up for the above reason. Ur weddings are close but not too close PLEASE dont stress now!!

08'er crashing....and sorry, but calm down and take a deep breath!!! you're only 7 days into 2010 and you have to give her a chance to get to you. I'm positive she is going to start booking 2011 soon and she is worth every single second of waiting!!! She is not only talented, but just an amazing person in every single aspect!!!!
I haven't been around in a long time, but the week of my wedding couldn't have been worse. I had a personal tragedy the week of my wedding and between Oksana and the girls who did my hair, they are the ONLY ones who kept me together that day and literally kept me going.
When you book your vendors, please realize that you are generally NOT dealing with huge companies who have secretaries, etc. Most of them are running one man shows and it's very hard to keep up with the insane amount of phone calls and emails and questions and concerns. Your wedding day is the single most important and exciting day of your life and they know that. Oksana is the kind of vendor who WANTS to be a part of your day and WANTS to be there for you. A lot of these people are in it for the money....Long Island weddings are huuuuggggeee bucks. As you do your planning, you'll see who is in it out of their own love and passion for their careers, and who is in it just to get some $$. Oksana is one of those who just absolutely LOVES what she does.
With all of this said, I'd hope that you will reconsider your choice (do yourself the favor) and just be patient. I know everyone is in a crunch to save their date and secure their vendors, but just hang in there.

Oksana did my wedding in October and she is definitely worth the wait. Not only was my makeup AMAZING but she was also incredibly calming to me, which is super important when you're stressing out before the wedding. I got compliments on my makeup all night long and she made my mom look unbelievable too. :-P I would book her again in a heartbeat if I had another event that I needed to look spectacular for.
We just rang in the New Year, and one can only guess what other things she has going on her in life...I mean, who knows? Maybe she has a family engagement of her own that month or something? We can only speculate... I would just try to be patient and contact her again or allow her the time to get back to you. If she's available on your date, she's super duper worth it...trust me!

she is fabulous and def worth the wait!!!!!!
i think she is just trying to get her schedule straight for this yr before she starts booking crazy...she is very popular(cause she is awesome) and is doing the best she can

i totally agree with what 040508Bride said. Everyone needs to be calm and not jump down peoples throats so quickly. I know you want to have your day booked in advanced like everyone else but before flipping out make sure ur not getting all stressed out for nothing =) take a deep breathhhhhh.. she has so many amazing reviews on here so give her a chance =) nitey night!!

She's very popular and that's why some might get nervous about booking her u guys all did the same things when u were booking vendors. A makeup artist is very important it might take some the next year to find that person.

Actually, to be honest I didn't freak out about stuff like that. I didn't have my makeup artist booked until about 8 or 9 months before. People have to understand that they need to give people time. I can speak for oksana especially bc she was my vendor. She does this all by herself, she is a mother, and she does things a certain way in an attempt to keep her brides happy and to keep her schedule straight (u won't see her accidentally double book!! And if u think that doesn't happen, ur wrong). I'm sure her email wasn't nasty, and I'm sure she is doing the best she can. Its not about not wanting business or turning it away. She gets god knows how many emails a day...if she was able to get back to them 1,2,3 I'd be more concerned that she has too much time on her hands and not enough work to do

noone was saying anything about that some girls want to have their fist choice. some dont give a damn who does their makeup. everyone is diffrent. but when people say oh your wedding is far still techincally its not. especially the girls who are already a year away.
