American Heart Assoc.

Heart Attack Warning Signs
Some heart attacks are sudden and intense -- the 'movie heart attack,' where no one doubts what's happening. But most heart attacks start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. Often people affected aren't sure what's wrong and wait too long before getting help. Here are signs that can mean a heart attack is happening:

Chest discomfort. - Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.

Discomfort in other areas of the upper body.
Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.

Shortness of breath. May occur with or without chest discomfort.

Other signs: These may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness

If you or someone you're with has chest discomfort, especially with one or more of the other signs, don't wait longer than a few minutes (no more than 5) before calling for help. Call 9-1-1... Get to a hospital right away.

I read some article in TIME that, for women, it also includes back pain and can sometimes feel like the flu.

Let me confirm that first though...

Re: ok...what are the symptons of...

here's the thing...the other day I started to feel like someone was sitting on my chest..alot of pressure...this came while I had already been experiencing twitching on the side of my face..(lower cheek just above my mouth....that has since stopped) ....then i was getting a shooting pain in my shoulder blade..(same side)...I was very nervous, but didn't tell my DH anything b/c I don't want him to worry...then I got a panic attack the other day...and I chalked that up to the stress with the house and everything else......
now the twitching is back, only its by my eye this time, and i felt the same pressure in my chest this morning?????

it sounds like stress, but I think you should DEFINITELY call your doctor to have them run some tests. You don't want to mess around with heart disease. Please call your doctor now

if you are feeling any chest pains go to the ER asap. My husband has Acid reflux and the symptoms are similar to a heart attack as per his cardiologist. It's very sharp chest pains also. Hope everything is well.

You should definitely see a doc to get it checked out. With that said, I know TOTALLY what you are going through and it is more than likely stress or panic attack. I was convinced I was having a heart attack or had a heart condition a couple of months ago due to MAJOR stress in my life. Go to the doctor and tell them your concerns and request an EKG, that will determine whether you have a problem. In all seriousness, a lot of it sounds psychological and you are stressing yourself out.

When I was experiencing my panic attacks on a frequent basis, it also felt like I was having a heart attack. My very first panic attack they had to call the ambulance, I really thought I was dying, the pain in my chest was so unbelievable I actually grabbed on the the EMS guy and told him not to let me die!!! It got so bad that my hands a feet when numb. If you are experencing panic attacks, I think your pain in your chest has a lot to do with it. But go to the doctor to check it out!

It's stress. Try to do something nice for yourself. Treat yourself a little better. If you are under a lot of stress, those symptoms you describe happen.

Call the doc and maybe he can prescribe something to help you relax. You may also be dehydrated. I'm sure your doc will know exactly how to help you. I hope you feel better soon and try not to panic.
