Would love any POV's on this. Specifically the food & service. Love the idea of the non typical Long Island venue but don't want to compromise great food.

We looked at the venue and it was beautiful. But I didn't feel like you got a lot of bang for your buck. When we looked two years ago, it was almost $200 pp for a Sunday night, so it was wayyyyy out of our budget. The reception room was lovely, but the cocktail hour room felt kind of small.

I agree with this! When I was 'window shopping' online for venues I feel in love with the Old Field Club. It was the first venue that I immediately looked at when I got engaged. I loved the reception room with the high wood ceilings. The cocktail room was definitely small and so was the dance floor. We knew that we wanted a band so that would have taken up a large portion of it. If you are having a smaller wedding it's a wonderful venue. I ended up booking at The Royalton since my guest list is around 200.

we looked at the venue and while its beautiful and vintage, it wasn't for us. We felt cocktail hour space was just too small for us. We also didn't care for the look of a 'home' when you walk in. However, it has a beautiful view. The reception space is positively breathtaking and so warm and inviting with a fireplace, large windows and an amazing wood ceiling. For us, it just didn't meet our needs and what we were looking for. However, a friend of mine had her wedding there and it was absolutely perfect for her and what she was looking for.
We also weren't able to consider it more because of the high price per plate. Overall though, I think it depends on what your looking for. It is a nice venue, just wasn't for us.

Thanks ladies. Just went by this morning & I agree with you all. Way too small for our potential 150 guests & although I love the rustic feel & look of the main room, the placement of the dance floor & limited walking space everywhere, including bathrooms seems way too small. Perhaps for a small 80-100 people wedding this could be nice. Also could use a little but of a make over out from & with the rugs. The hunt continues.....

$200pp for a sunday night? Jeez! I think I would have fainted, then walked out.I was there for a wedding back in 2005 and it was a very nice affair. I didn't have an opinion on the food though. I really don't remember it.

We looked at the Old Field Club. I agree with the other ladies that said you do not get alot for your money. Before we booked, I was dead set against catering hall style weddings like you. The Old Field Club looked beautiful online.I am not sure of your guest list size. Ours is about 175. Here were our concerns:
-the size of the dance floor and its location in relation to the bar
-A lot of the duct work is visible and painted in this awful brown color
-The back up plan for the ceremony, if it rained, would have been cramped a
-The actual area, had it not rained for the ceremony was not very well landscaped. And it was very muddy.
-The part of the deck that was covered for cocktail hour was really hot and sticky (its a wooden deck with a plastic top and sides.
-The tables would have been very tight in the actual room and the layout of the room was odd, for us.
I hope this is helpful. GOOOD LUCK and congratulations.

I looked at this space in September in hopes for a Spring 2015 Wedding. It was the first place my fiance & I looked at and felt completely discouraged after seeing it- we were scared every place would be like that! Way too expensive for what they are giving you- on top of that the ceremony space outside is all cracked and overgrown & the carpets in the cocktail hour room were dirty! I also hated that the dance floor and bar were right on top of each otherWelcome New Vendors
