There is the old wives tale that if a babies heart rate is slow it is a ______??? or if it is fast it is a ______?? There is a debate in my office. Some say if it is slow it is a boy and then there are the ones saying if it is slow its a girl. Any idea???

Re: Old wives tale about babies heart rate...
I believe it is if the heartrate is in the 130's it's a boy and 160's it's a girl
It is definitely a slower rate for a boy

Got this from a pregnancy info website:
Heart rate Some say that if you look at the fetal heart rate that you can predict the gender of your baby. The old saying is that above 140 is a girl and below is a boy. But there have been no studies that conclusively show that heart rate is a predictor for sex. Your baby's heart rate will probably differ from prenatal visit to prenatal visit anyway - depending on the age of the fetus and activity level at the time of the visit.

Yup, I was told the higher the rate it's a girl and the lower it's a boy. This was true for me, each time we go our Bean's heart rate ranges from 149-160 and it's a girl.

The Bear Cub's heartrate was always around the 160s and I had a feeling all along she was a girl and I was right!!!
But for my friend, she had a girl and a boy and the heart rates were opposite for both! So who knows how totally accurate it can be!

At several ob visits, baby's heart rate was slow (probably b/c she was sleeping!) & many were convinced she was a boy. But I always knew her true identity!

Re: Old wives tale about babies heart rate...
I've heard fast = girl, and according to my baby's heartrate and the Chinese gender chart, it would appear I'm having a girl.
But the heartrate thing I don't buy. My girlfriend has 4 children, all whom had really high heartbeats, and she is the proud mama of 4 boys!!!! So I don't necessarily believe it.

I've heard that a higher heart rate indicates a girl - and a slower heart rate indicates a boy. It was true for me - my little girl's heart rate was on the high side.

I was told in the 160's was a girl anything below was a boy. Mine was in the 150's throughout my entire pregnancy and i had a girl so I dont know how accurate they can be.
