Re: OMG
it all comes back to the decline of morality in general....i am not going to get into it right now but take a look at TV....newspapers, magazines....decline in church / synagogue attendance....it's a twisted world unfortunately. That is sick. That would have never occurred to me in 6th grade...at that point i was still having theme birthday parties!

It seems like a lot of kids walk all over their parents nowadays. How I have seen kids treat their parents in the mall is appalling...and the parents always give in!
It's almost like parents are afraid to reprimand their children. It's disgusting what parents let their children get away with now. I believe that's one of the reasons children have obesity(sp?)problems now, because parents give them whatever they want to eat to quiet their children instead of yelling at them.

Re: OMG
that is absolutely uncalled for at a school dancer or anywhere by anyone that young....or even old. i think that should definetly be brought up to all parents attention and the school principle. it is sad what these oyung kids learn today and half the time it is because the parents to disapline their kids or dont care what they do.....what is this world coming to

but I didn't think of blowjobs as sex. And there were a lot of girls who went down on like dozens of guys and were like 'but I'm a virgin'... I don't know what made me think that way. . . . .
. . .I've found that kids learn from each other.
I was of the 'oral sex isn't sex', mentality untill I was about 23.
I totally agree about kids learning from each other. that was the shared 'norm' amongst my peer group.

Re: OMG
you guys are scaring me. my 7 yr old keeps seeing Jessica Simpson and other bikini clad women and he keeps saying to me or hubby that they are 'Superwheels Hot, Really!!' As if we dont believe him. it is scary cause kids are doing things much earlier in age then years ago. I do know for a fact that by his school there are a bunch of older kids who are doing something everydsay outside the school and Im not talking legal stuff and the scary part is they only belong in elementary school. My dh and I had a talk with him about drugs and alchol as scary as it is for me to discuss it with a 7 yr old. My folks never did that with me especially at 7

Re: OMG
I wonder if these things were going on, but we just didn't notice them, or they were hidden away...
I definetly get shocked at some of the things I hear... Where I student taught last spring there was a 6th grader in a gang, i was in a 5th grade class this fall and a bunch of the girls were wearing these jelly bracelets... apparently they mean different things a girl will do (make out/blow job/sex) and if a guy snaps it their supposed to do it...
And then the 6th grade I was in last May I heard that this was the first year in ages that they had not had at least one pregnant 6th grader... It's scary...

Re: OMG
I watched a documentry a year ago about teen sex acts, and when girls where asked where they learn this behavior, they said that they copy movies and videos. I think parents have to monitor the amounts that their kids watch.

Re: OMG
I think it has more to do with what the parents teach their kids about what they see on TV than what they see... I used to watch all sorts of stuff I probably shouldn't have watched when I was in my younger teens and I never went around giving guys blow jobs or having sex with everyone at the age of 13 or something...
It may have been because my mom scared the crap out of me that if i did i would fall to the depths of hell or something, but hey, it worked :P
But basically, I think it has more to do with how involved parents are with thier kids lives... Blaming it on the entertainment industry isn't going to make things better...

Re: OMG
I agree with Deb, I think there is more stuff on TV than years and years ago, but from when most of us were kids until now it's not that big a difference. it ahs to do with aprenting. there were people i knew who were total sluts, etc. I wasn't b/c although my parnets never talked frankly to me about sex, they did instill 'morals' in me that did effect me

Re: OMG
Wow, thats appalling. In 6th grade we thought it was a big deal to tell a boy we liked them.
It makes me sad to know how children are growing up these days. I can only imagine what it will be like for my own children someday.
