my FH sister just posted this on her myspace blog...***!?!?!??!?!?
I always thought that i would get married before my younger brother would. Now he is 24 years old;- i will be 27 next month. Alan and Melissa are getting married next September '09. A part of me thinks he should wait because he is too young; and sometimes i think that he should wait it out for a little while longer. I know that it is his life though;- so i want him to be happy and very successful in his life. So i'm kinda sort of over that part. I really think that there should be a rule that if your brother is getting married that you should be in the wedding no matter what. After all i will have a Sister-In Law very soon! :) I was looking at other people's wedding webpages on theknot.com and most of them have there sister-in law as a bridesmaid and the groom has there brother-in law as a groomsman. But it's whatever... I just had to vent on this matter/topic because i'm slightly annoyed right now... eventually i will get over it though because it's not my life... and i'm hoping to be extremely very busy in '09... Woops... lol :D :-P ;)
~~~um i'm about to have a coronary...help..what should i do? thoughts?
Re: OMG HELP!! this is so embarassing...
i would def talk to your FH and see what his opinion is of that ....its not necessary to have Fh's sisters/brothers in ur wedding..its a nice gesture but not AT ALL demanded off.....seriously if that were the case i would have freakin 7 girls i would have to include...
You did say that she has a learning disability and is awkward in social situations so maybe she doesnt see anything wrong in what she was writing? Or maybe just maybe it was her way of expressing her disappointment of not being asked to be in the wedding? What ever the case may be, you shouldnt be embarrassed...thats on her. Be happy, you are getting married!!! Dont let others ruin one of the happiest times in your life
she is only feel down on herself - dont take it thewrong way. I felt like that when people around me were getting engaged and i wasnt.
but i do think having posted it on a public forum that friends anf family can see is wrong though
I would've told you to completely disregard what she said, but being that you already did something about it, i'd tell you to start ignoring it now, it's not even worth the time or frustration, some people are just soo self centered and like attention
Don't you just HATE the minute you get engaged things change... Especially between the Daughter/Sister-in-law part. When Brian asked me to marry him I was thrilled and so was my family but his suddenly changed. Screw that blog on myspace. Its your day! and if you decide not to have his sister in the party then don't. She should be happy for you guys not dwelling on her own life. It's not your fault she's not married yet is it? I wouldn't even sweat it.
Sorry, I guess i got a little vent out of that too.
Re: OMG HELP!! this is so embarassing...
weddings too often bring out the worst in people--jealousy and control issues to only name a few--so you're going to have to develop a thicker skin if you're going to make it to 2009. They live 5 hours away and this is your wedding. do what you want, and they'll have no choice but to eventually come around. and if they don't really know you guys as a couple, all the more reason not to take the nonsense personally. if it really gets messy, you made need to put FH on the spot to rein in the family drama.
for now, let it go. she's the one who looks stupid. just let her embarrass herself for a while.
I just want to tell you something. My sister n law did not include me in her bridal party. Also she didnt include me in anything else. When she went dress shopping, she would invite my mom in front of me and not even acknowledge that i had heard her. When it came time for the wedding, I wasnt included in anything there either. I wasnt invited to the rehearsal dinner and at the wedding, when they call out the family, I wasnt included in that either. My feelings were really hurt. It didnt stop there either because half the day I was questioned by people as to why I wasnt included in the events. In any case, I dont think u have to make her in your bridal party, but maybe be the better person and try to be friendly towards here. After all she's going to be your family.
i agree that it is hard to not be included in it, but if you have not been close with your FSIL or there have been some issues, maybe she has her reason for not including you... obv she is having issues with her FSIL being immature and taking it to a level that is getting everyone annoyed and her upset. If she is going this now to the bride, then what stupid stunt is she going to pull when it comes time for the wedding??
Re: OMG HELP!! this is so embarassing...
Is sound like a jealousy thing to me...if my younger sibling got married before me I would be very upset - also I do think that she is trying to broach the whole BM subject..but she isn't going about it the right way - it's your day and not everyone has their FSIL and FBIL in the bridal party. You do what you feel, if you don't want to deal with her that day then dont. As long as you and FH are on the same page it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks...and anway like you said you only see them 2x's a year..so why is it necessary for her to be in it for one day?
JMO Hang in there hopefully it will blow over
Re: OMG HELP!! this is so embarassing...
that is my EXACT fear and i've already brought this up to my FH...just to put the nail in the coffin that the decision we made was the right one. our wedding isn't for over a year and half and she's already pulling this ****? and her already inquiring if she can bring a guest is complete nonsense...she's never been in a serious relationship and she's not even dating anyone..who would she want to bring?!? i'm sorry but if my parents are going to pay 100+ a person i'm not having any joe schmoe at my wedding... people bringing guests all is decided by my budget and whether or not you are an actual out of town guest. otherwise she has her ENTIRE family there...what does she NEED a guest for?
