OMG...I hope this doesnt happen to me!

So, my cousin 'A' is getting married to his fiance 'M' 7/7/07. Our family is not very fond of 'M'. She is not a very nice person. Her bridal shower is this Sunday in NJ. I just checked her registries (BBB & Target) and there is like nothing purchased off either of them. The shower is 3 days away. So, I started calling my family members and apparantly, my aunt and I from LI are the only ones from our side of the family going to the shower! I cant believe that. I called up all my other aunts, etc. trying to figure out why nobody is going....they said it is because they dont like her. HOW RUDE IS THAT. Even if you dont like her.....we all love our cousin/newphew 'A' and we should support him by going to the shower!

Yeah that is what I would do also. Its the right thing to do. That is horrible.

I would too...Regardless if you dont like someone, they are entitled to a day of eternal bliss and happyness, like we all expect to have on our day, and no day in the process should be ruined

I would still go. That poor girl is probably going to be so upset no one came from his side. And your cousin also will be hurt!

I know! I would be soo hurt if my FH's family did that to me. My sister told me I was being too sensitive because I am a 'bride to be' so I am taking it personally.

I think everyone should take it personally. Whether you're a bride to be now, or will be in the future, nobody wants that to happen to them.

Well I already convinved another cousin and Aunt to go. My sister has her step kids that weekend can I understand why she cant go. My other sister is in the Cayman Islands, so I understand why she cant go. But all my other aunts, there is no excuse!

I will keep you update on Monday on who showed up. Here is the count:

That happened to me where my side didn't like my cousin's fiance and really didn't want to go to the shower. . . BUT, most of us went anyways just thinking to ourselves 'its for him, its for him'.

That really s*cks! They should be able to suck it up for a day! At first I didn't like my sister's bf but then I gave him another chance and found out he's not that bad! you never know. Not that I am saying that it will happen for you guys too, but you never know, sometimes people deserve another chance. (And sometimes people are just not nice!) but they should go to support A regardless.

I think if you get invite you send a gift regardless that is how I was raised but to not show up because you personally don't like someone is rather silly unless you really hate this person because they personally did something to you.

Fh's family for the most part doesn't even talk to him and we invited them to the wedding. (a complete fall out when fh's parents died over 20 years ago) I really doubt any of them are going to show but you never know.

I was going to say the same thing about the gift giving. If I can't go to something I usually send a gift, but sometimes I'll make it so it sends a couple days after the shower because I don't want to ruin the surprise.

It's just polite. Half of the couple is still family!
