In case any of you girls are at a total loss for what to give as a favor, let me tell you what I'm doing.
I'm giving a donation to the Little Shelter in Huntington with a cookie shaped like a dog or cat. I went there today and met with Arleen. This is SUCH a worthy charity if you're an animal lover! She took me around the whole place. They have 6 acres and they also are in the process of building an animal sanctuary upstate. I got to pet all of the cats and dogs! They're a no kill shelter, so the animals are safe and sound there! They had 3 adorable little puppies that looked like a shepherd mix - I wish I could have taken them home - and so many sweet kitties!! Anyway girls, if you're at a loss for where to donate, I can tell you that the money definitely goes to good use at Little Shelter!
Also, they give you a really nice little card for your reception with photos of cats & dogs adn a little think about Little Shelter.

Believe it or not they did not have ANY long haired kitties there! Claudette is a domestic long hair. She might be the prettiest cat ever.
No luck on the cookies yet! We may make them. But I did pass a cookie place on the way to Little Shelter today that I'vev been meaning to look up online...

We'd have red wine flavored cookies, I am sure.
We are donating to an animal based charity too ... not sure which one yet, but I think it will be a pit bull rescue group of some sort since we have a pit and I get soooo upset when I hear about people abusing them. I might broaden Little Shelter is great!!!

Most of the dogs at Little Shelter are pit bulls or pit bull mixes b/c ppl think theyre cute puppies, but then they're afraid to keep them! Its so sad! I got to pet all of them, they were all sweethearts.

what a great idea!! on my registry, i've listed aspca to get all the proceeds.. i'm giving my guests actual favors, but i would love to include this somehow.. my family would be floored.. they're such animal lovers..
any idea how I can contact them.. I'm not from LI so I can't go there.. and any ideas how i can incorporate it??
