One bathroom Houses

Original post by cjb88

Any of you live in a house with one bathroom?? Im finding so many houses that are pretty cute, but then I realize there is only one bathroom... Im not sure how inconvienant this may be, or if it is livable?? What do you guys think?? Would you plan to add another bathroom to the house??

I guess I have always been spoiled... my parents have always had a master bathroom, then us kids have had a bathroom to share, then there was a half bath for guests...

I grew up in a 3.5 bathroom house and the one we are moving into has 1.

Its ok for now, but we'll be adding another one ASAP.

i grew up with multiple bathrooms and now share one with DH in a one bedroom apartment. it's okay for us, but not for guests. while house hunting, if the property in question has one bath, we make sure it would be easy to add another as that is on our 'must have' list.

We bought a house with two bathrooms. But the top of the house, we rent out.. So we only have one bathroom for us.

We find it fine. We work with each other, who has to go more? Then if one is in the shower, we just don't lock the door, what are you going to do?

Pretty soon we will have a little one, but that should be fine too. We manage, lots of leg crossing! ;)

I personally would not buy a one bathroom house unless there was room to build another one.... I believe that it would be much harder to sell. Speaking for myself, we live in a one bedroom, one bath apartment and we are buying a home to improve our lifestyle, not stay the same.

We have one bathroom now and I hate it. I refuse to buy a home with one bathroom again.

Re: One bathroom Houses

We only have one bathroom because we rent the second floor of our house. When we have our second kid, we plan to stop renting and then we'll have two. If finances allow, we also plan to add a half bath (or with shower stall) to our finished basement because that is where our den and home offices are.

We manage just fine with one bathroom. Every once in a while we rush the other one, but we're used to it from when we rented also.
