I was told recently that usually the best man and the father of the bride make a speech? I didn't include father of the bride in the poll. Is this usually the case? Thanks.

Re: One more Speechs Question...sorry
i've been to 2 weddings this year besides my own..
the fob made a speech at one and the fog made a speech at the other
i think if the fob is totally hosting the wedding and they want to, then they can make a speech.

Re: One more Speechs Question...sorry
I think it would be nice if the FOB made a speech, but I a have never seen it. My cousins DH had his dad as his best man, so his father ended up making a speech, but it was really because he was the best man, not because he was the dad.

Re: One more Speechs Question...sorry
I've been to one wedding recently where the FOB gave a very short speech thanking everyone for coming, in addition to the speech maid by the best man and MOH.
I've also been to a few weddings were the bride and groom made a similar speech instead of one of the parents. I'm wondering if this depends on who paid for the wedding?

Re: One more Speechs Question...sorry
both our fathers are speaking at the wedding. so we'll have 4 speeches.
ETA: make that 5 - FH and i will probably say a quick thank you.

Yes it was me that posted that but i am from Ireland. They do it at every wedding there. I think it is really nice but the speeches will not be 48 mins...

Re: One more Speechs Question...sorry
My rule of thumb is definitely the Best Man. It has become more trendy for the MOH to do one as well. Would love for my Dad to but I dont think so.
What about us? Are the bride/groom supposed to make a speech?

Re: One more Speechs Question...sorry
Historically the Father of the Bride (the host of the wedding) makes the only speech. It then extended to the BM, and then to the MOH.
