happend last night. It was from my gyno. He left me a message saying to call him back b/c my test results came back abnormal.
I went into panic mode. I called teh dr back but he was gone. The nurse said that she would have one of the other dr's giveme a call back to discuss. I swear 2 hours felt like a lifetime. Well the dr called me back and the first thing he said was its not cancer. Thank god. He said the pap smear came back a bit abnormal and that my dr would like to do a coloscopy(sp?) just to be sure.
So I am going next week. I did talk to my regular gyno and he said that there is no cancer no HPV, probably a slight irritation or yeast infection.
I know someone once posted about the same thing and could you tell me what to to expect next week. I'm still a bit nervous. Thanks girls.

I had an abnormal pap about ten years ago. The ob/gyn said they were 'precancerous'.
The procedure (LEEP) to biopsy/remove the cells that were growing abnormally wasn't too bad...I was crampy afterwards, and had to deal with discharge for a few days (sorry if TMI).
After that, I had to have paps done every six months for a year or two. No problems since then.
There was a post a while ago about abnormal paps. I was amazed to see how many women were in the same boat as I was!!

So I went to the dr this morning. He did a colopscopy and a biopsy. It wasn't as bad as I thought. He reconfirmed that there is no cancer or any other infection. He said the cells on your cervix are constanly regenerating and sometimes they form abnormal looking cells. So that's what happend to me and why my pap came back slightly abnormal. He wanted to do a biopsy to be more than 100% right so I will have a definitive answer next week.
I just want to thank all of you for your kind thoughts and for sharing your experience with me. It made it a lot easier going into this knowing that I'm not alone.

I have some info on this. I recently read that many women are having these because many dr's were letting them go and not picking it up, also sometimes if you have had sex couple of days before pap smear it will show up as an abnormality on pap also, if you have just finished your period it will show an abnomality also.
