Online engagement rings?
Does anybody know anything about these companies? www.bluenile.com , diamond.com, etc.I have been to a few jewelers, and done my research on color, cut and clarity, etc. It seems that for the same color and clarity the online rings are just less expensive. I am looking for a classic solitare setting, so its not like I need an abundance of settings to choose from. I am just afraid that maybe its not as reliable as it says? They all have GIA or AGSL reports (not that I know what that means LOL)
I guess... has anybody used one? or heard anything???

Re: Online engagement rings?
My friend's hubby got her engagement ring from them. They seem to be rather reputable. What is their return policy??? Call and speak to someone and ask all your questions.

Thanks shamma, they have a 30 day return, no questions asked. Seems fair I guess. ;-)

Re: Online engagement rings?
I used to be a member of an online diamond forum.diamondtalk.com
If you go in and do a search for both online companies, you'll get quite a few threads and opinions for and against bluenile.com
Hope that helps.
Shopping for diamonds is a big deal, and it's always good to be as knowledgeable as possible.
I found that forum to be invaluable to me when I was researching different stones

Re: Online engagement rings?
My ring is from Blue Nile. Its a simple ring-round w/ a six prong setting but beautiful and very me. It was a surprise so he decided Blue Nile on his own. I've since heard only good things about Blue Nile. I don't know exactly what my ring cost(he wouldn't tell me) but I think it appraised for significantly more than it cost. That is its reputation anyway. My only issue was to have it sized, I would have had to send it back and I didn't want it out of my sight. I just got it sized at a neighborhood jeweler who also appraised it. It came with the gia certificate and a supposedly independent appraisal. It was very close to my appraisal so I guess it was true. I'll ask the fiance if there is anything else you should know.

Re: Online engagement rings?
I bought my FW's center stone on blue nile and was really happy with it. She was also! I called them once to ask a question and they were super nice on the phone. When we had the ring set (at a local jeweler) he appraised the ring to be of a higher color than it was and he got the clarity exactly right, in comparison to the GIA certificate. All the certificates came with the stone. When they shipped the stone the box was very inconspicuous and you would have never known that a diamond was inside. Also, the shipping was super quick...I got the ring overnight, I think, or the following day. I recommend them.
