Re: Bridesmaids getting ready?

My MOH did her own hair and it came out great. Some people just prefer to do it themselves. She is a big girl - just let her do what she wants and dont let it get to you.

Re: Only me!!

JennBaby, I am really sorry it had to come to this.

So will you now have an uneven BP or are you going to replace her?

I'm sorry Jenn. You are probably better off anyway. You don't need your BP to add to your stress.

Re: Bridesmaids getting ready?

Jenn-
My sister-in-law (hubby's sister) has a 'thing' about people touching her. She didn't want to get a manicure and pedicure with me and the other girls (even though I was paying) and she did her hair and make up herself. Her hair looked OK. That I didn't mind.

She also never got her dress altered. Her mother hemmed the skirt the day before the wedding, but the top was too tight (partially because she wouln't give me her exact measurements to order the right size. She insisted she'd fit a ten).

Also, she didn't have the dress professionally pressed. They tried to do it themselves the morning of the wedding and burned the image of the iron (just slightly) into the bottom of the skirt. I didn't notice and luckily they didn't tell me until after the wedding!

You should find a way to make sure you see you BM in the dress before the wedding, just to make sure the dress fits OK and she looks like the other girls.

Oop-sorry. While I was typing this the news came in that she's out of the BP. Well, now you don't have to worry!

Re: Bridesmaids getting ready?

I am letting my bridesmaid do what they would like to do.. There is already enough pressure to pay for the dress and to get the shoes I want them to have.. But as far as hair and makeup I am very easy going, in fact one of my girls may put bordeaux strips in her hair to match the dress, teehee I said to go ahead. That is what is great they all look so alike in the dress but it is the little things thay do to make them stand out.. I also don't want to be known as the bridezilla.. Just remember Jenn it is all about YOU!

Glad your problem is solved. It sounds like you don't need her as friend anyway. One less thing to worry about!

Re: Only me!!

When my best friend got married, I was her MOH. She kept nagging me about getting my hair done at her hair salon. I was very apprehensive and wanted to do my own hair ( honestly speaking no one does my hair as good as I do). But it seemed so important to her that I gave in. I felt good about this decision until I saw what a horrible job her hair stylist did on me. Her hair looked fabulous but mine looked awful. I had to rush home and try my best to fix it. The point I'm making is that when it comes to hair and make-up, women are very picky. She may know what is best for her. You might want to consider letting this one go.

Re: Only me!!

Irene - I say let them do everything excpet put their dresses on at their own houses if they like. I was in a wedding last summer and that's what I did. There would have been too many girls trying to put makeup on and fix themselves in the one mirror. And you will have to be up at the crack of dawn if they are showering there. Maybe you could have just your MOH stay over.

Re: Only me!!

Ladies, once again, thank you for all the advice.
Here's what happened:
My friend (we'll call her Lucy), is very cheap and all for herself.
She never once gave me a bday present or anything, mind you, I used to buy her, and I don't give to get but she's cheap!!
She has been single for many years (was waiting for a married man to leave his wife for her & he never did), he saw her 3 times in 3 yrs mind you!) She had a love affair online & he lives in NY also! So, when FH & I would take her with us out to eat, she always tried to skip the bill etc.
Anyway, she is looking only for a man who will support her & her kids. (Her mom supports her now) and they shop & shop every weekend. My friend doesn't want to work. She now says she can't afford to be in my wedding, however, it's because she couldn't have the dress my MOH picked out and because I wouldn't let her daughter be my flowergirl!
As for hair & makeup, she said that because she probably wanted to aggravate me.
The reason we were friends is because I met her through another good friend (who warned me) but I gave Lucy a chance & I found she is just for herself)
Thanks for letting me vent!
