I sent out stds in July for my march wedding with the # to the Inn @ east wind for rooms. Well, when i went to block some a few months ago i found out there were only 7!! I blocked them along with 2 jr suites. I feel really bad that when the time comes i wont have enough rooms. FH and dad say that people had the opportunity to call when i sent out the stds but i still feel responsible since im getting married so far away. I was thinking of blocking off at the hampton inn or best western but what if people dont want to stay there and i get stuck with the bill?
FH says that whenever he had a destination party he made it his responibility to find a place to stay.....any feed back??

Re: oot guests
can you request more rooms in your block???? that's an option the hotels i secured offered :-\
also, maybe look at other hotels that don't require a financial responsibility if your guests don't book. it gives them another option, but doesn't hurt your wallet
good luck!

You won't get stuck with a bill at Hampton Inn or Best Western. They hold rooms for you until 1 month before the wedding, and if they do not book, they release them to the public.

Re: oot guests
its not your problem. you may feel bad.. but you gave them plenty of time to look around and book ahead.
we have our eparty next weekend in the poconos.. everyone lives on li. we told them when we got engaged that it would be in PA.. we sent out the cards.. we got back the rsvps.. and then we got about 5 phone calls of people asking where to stay.
so of course we had to spend a few hours looking for open/cheap places around here. it was a pain but we finally got it done.
even if you booked the whole town.. there will probably still be people who don't book until a week before and think that you should find them a place. maybe you could have your family/friends spread the word about other places in the area and tell people to book early?

Re: oot guests
Don't get crazy. When we are oot for a wedding I always contact my friends/family that are also going and book with them any place close to the reception. If you do not have enough rooms at the Inn, maybe there are friends/family that know your oot and would allow some people to stay with them. I wouldn't worry, people usuallly fend for themselves, but try and give other options. Good luck and it will all work out.
