I am really considerring booking a site for Sunday evening July 4th, 2004 form 7-12 AM. Pros.............1)Everyone will have off Monday July 5th for the holiday. 2)It gives family that is flying in an extra day to get her since it will be on Sunday.
Cons............1) It is a hoilday weekend 2) Is 7-12 too late for a Sunday even if people have the next day off? 3) Traffic on LI may be tough
However I love the place and this is the only way to afford it...........OPINIONS?????

agv, where are you looking to have your reception? I would also look into having it either memorial day or labor day. I would think that more offices would have off the following day.

Again thanks for all the responses....it really does help in my decision making. I thought that out of all the holidays asking people to give up that weekend was easier than Memorial or Labor Day.
I am looking into the Vanderbilt Mansion and they will not give me a deal on the Saturday so that was out. I am a little worried about traffic because it is way out there........but like most of you have been saying if they want to come THEY WILL!!!!

I am getting married on July 6th of this year and I got so many comments from some people, saying how it is a holiday weekend and people will be away. They said all this and the holdiay falls on a Friday this year. I agree with what everyone said here to you agv. Whoever wants to be there will be there. It is your wedding day and you should do what you feel is right to you. Why should we plan our wedding around everyone else's schedule? If your close family and friends can't reschedule their weekend plans for your wedding then maybe you should if they are really your friends. I say you go for it girl and do what you want! Lots of luck with your plans.
My wedding is in Long Island, but its not way out there, it's in Floral Park, It's called Floral Terrace. Do you think it's fine in terms of traffic? It's not that far out there so there should be other ways of getting there.
i wouldn't factor that in...BUT there may be lots of roadchecks...

A friend got married 4 years ago on the Fourth and the only 2 drawbacks were the traffic and the Heat (it reached 104 that day) other than that she got a great hall at an amazing price! Good Luck

I'm getting married on the 3rd this year (Thursday), because the 4th is the holiday and everyone (almost) is off the next day, and since it's a Thursday, we're getting a good deal on the hall.
