OK this is the situation. I booked FM entertainment last night. Me and FH are paying for this on our own and are on a strict budget. Igot the DJ/ MC package but really wanted to splurge on the perimeter lighting (the leds around the room and looks amazing) which is costing around 800. This is fine but I can't add anything else. My problem is we are getting married around christmas and really fell in love with the idea of having a sax player. I just think it would be nice for him to play Christmas music during the CH and during dinner.
So here is my question... Keep the perimeter lighting and that's it .... or.... downgrade the lighting to the club lights and get the sax player?

I would keep the lighting ... that would look great for christmas time and have the DJ play some christmas music ... but the instrumental kind., so you get the jazz feeling ... They have whole cds of sax players and piano players playing christmas music and it sounds awesome

I think I would down grade the lights and go with the sax, just my opinion, but I agree with you that the sax would be awesome for the holidays!

I would keep the lighting too...It really changes everything and makes a huge difference! You'd be surprised how good you can get recordings to sound!!

I would keep the lighting, not sure if you want the typical club lights they can get a bit annoying, the perimeter lighting is better.
A sax player is nice but also not something you NEED bc well you can just play music that has a sax background. With the lights you can't substitute the same way you can with music. Also with the lights it gives the whole room an overall look and you can do blue lights and all that for a winter wedding which would set the tone

Sax player would be much more memorable than the lights I think. I don't think people notice things like that.
Plus, if you happen to come across the extra money, you can always add the lights on last minute but you might not be able to do that with the sax player.

ITA! You could keep the lighting you love and create the Christmas feel you're looking for without having an actual sax player!

I agree, with perimeter lighting its very noticeable and guests will notice as soon as they walk in. Its not like regular club lights so really can transform the room. Here are pics from an 08 brides winter wedding. You dont have to do snowflakes but you can do the room all blue
here are examples from other weddings

Go with the sax. The lights people don't notice, but everyone will notice you included a sax player.

Re: Opinions need... a little long
I know a professional sax player who is trying to save some extra money for his daughter's wedding...on second thought, it's the day after yours
In all seriousness, I'd do the sax. But I'm clearly biased.
