I am thinking about wording for the invites....Now my parents are hosting and paying for the entire RH - I don't feel it is nessary to have FH parents names on the invite - because they haven't done anything to pitch in for this wedding...
Actually i missed something they are giving us aggravation... (and that just a cost of me and FH)
But really is it nessary to have the Groom's parents on the invite if they are not doing anything for it?
Thoughts and opinions welcomed!!!!
TIA
ETA: Like I said, thank you for all your opinions, it is greatly appreicated. We will figure this out...

Mine will say:
Today I will marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, love
Mr. & Mrs. Vincent ********* request the honour of your presence at the wedding celebration of their daughter Devon Diane to Matthew Michael
son of Mr. & Mrs. Michael ******** Saturday, the ninth of June Two thousand and seven at three o’clock St. Joseph’s R.C. Church Kings Park, New York
IMHO I never even thought twice about not mentioning them on it b/c this wedding is about BOTH of you..... I think it's nice to honor your FH's family as well but that's just me.
If you do both the Brides parents do come first.
This is how I did mine. My dad is paying for the majority of the wedding...and I was only going to put his name on there. But FH got upset and wanted his parents names on there too .... his mom would not be happy if it wasn't...so I pu tit on there towards the end saying that my dad was the one inviting everyone to attend. I think i'ts the bigger thing to do to put there names on there...but not honored as much as your parents. Plus you don't want to start off on a bad foot with your new in laws!!!
This is how I did mine too hun. This is always the safest bet. It's YOUR parents requesting the honor. And just stating FH is the son of...

i would do this:
Mr and Mrs XX invite you to attend the wedding of their daughter XXXX to FH son of mr and mrs XXX. their names are still on it, but not as the host.
I think this would be the classy thing to do. Invite wording shouldn't be about who pays, or who's getting the glory. Who cares what the guests think about who is paying? Not once, out of all the weddings I've been to, have I been like, oh so-and-so's parents must be paying instead of the IN-LAWS! Who cares? Your day is about you and FH. Plus, even if you are having IL issues, they will still be your family once you and FH wed. In the long run, is it really worth obviously snubbing them?

my parents broke their engagement over this believe it or not! if the groom's parents aren't paying, and they're giving u aggrevation, then don't put them on. unless u know it'll be a huge deal (it sometimes is with italian in laws), then it might be worth slapping them on there, but I def wouldn't get into a fight over it so avoid that

I am in the same boat. I Wrote the above on mine. It says that mine are hosting it. But it mentions that they are the parents of the groom. Less controversy this way.

I agree 100%...it shouldn't be just about paying...There are many couples who pay for their own wedding now anyways. Even if his parents are not putting in any money, it is still a nice thing to do. Yes maybe they didn't pay for the wedding, but they raised the son, were there for him, paid for him for more than half of his life and made them the men that we love. Just for that I think they deserve to be on it. It shouldn't be well you're not paying anything so you're not good enough to be on the invitation. Also the wording is more about hosting than paying and people who receive the invite don't look at the wording and say oh ok so its her parents who paid and his didn't. You also have to look at someones financial situation, many times parents would LOVE to pay but they are not able to do so and i don't think it should be held against them if they cant afford to do so.
Thats JMO though, if you have a bad relationship with the parents and also if FH does then maybe it's different...But its a nice thing, not a big deal at all to do, and you also save yourself from causing any problems and hurting someones feelings

As far as etiquette is concerned, I believe that if your parents are the only ones contributing, then they are the only ones to be put on the invite. It would be a courtesy- and not necessary- to name your FHs parents. Soooo, don't out them on there!

Question.......aren't you all still getting a very generous gift from them? They may not contribute now in the planning process but I would hope they'd be giving there son a generous gift...no?

Well if ur parents and in laws are putting nothing into the wedding...then you dont need to put their names. thats my opinions...it should just have FH and ur name announcing the wedding.

Yeah alot of them do, but some don't...Many also do pay for the RD, and will pay for the honeymoon, this is what is traditionally done but not everyone does it. I do know FMIL told FH how much she will give as a gift at the wedding, and it is generous so alot of fh's parents do give a generous gift at the wedding

My FI's Mom is helping us...but I ordered my invites way before she said she was helping with money...I don't think its a bad idea not to include parents on the invites...

Thats good though, i personally think both parents should go on it regardless...its not about the money, its the fact that they are our parents who have always been there for us and raised us.
