opinions needed on flowerless wedding!

opinions needed on flowerless wedding!

So I am trying to keep wedding costs somewhat reasonable and have found a few budget friendly options when it comes to wedding decor. Since I am a librarian and FH is a big reader, we are doing kind of a 'book' theme wedding. So here are my ideas on some things, I'd really welcome your thoughts...

For centerpieces, I have always loved the branches and I found a website where you can order 15 of them already in the vases. I thought I could hang this book garland from them and surround them with the candles. They could even be resting on a vintage book.

For flowers: My FH and I are only having one person on each side so we don't have a huge bridal party and I don't want to waste a ton of money on flowers. I really love these book page flower bouquets and you can either DIY or find them pretty reasonably priced on etsy. They even have bouts and corsages. I think they are unique and will last forever but some family members are telling me they are tacky, what do you ladies think?

Thanks for the advice. I am going to attach the images below (hope it works!)

Only one image went through but I love the idea for both.. The only thing I'm wondering about is are you having a fall/winter wedding or a July wedding? I feel like branches are such cool weather month pieces

We are having a July wedding but FH and I aren't super summery people, I would have loved a fall wedding but he works in a school and we wanted him to be off.

I agree that branches seem more fall/winter then summer.

I love both ideas. If I wasn't already set on my theme I would do the book page flowers.

I just got home from my FSILs wedding in California, and they did actual antique books as their centerpieces surrounded by different types of 'vintage'-y votives. It looked awesome. I love the book flowers.

I think incorporating books is a great idea. The book flowers are gorgeous!

Just be careful, sometimes by time you buy everything it ends up more than you think, and then you have the stress of creating cps all on you. Don't get me wrong it is doable! Just do the research and see how much it would cost per table. I know a lot of florists offer great candle centerpieces starting around $50 per table. So if what your looking to create is way over that you might want to just hire someone lol.

There are a million ideas online, so if you put your mind to it, you can for sure get great centerpieces. HTH

A friend of mine also did this! It looked beautiful and is definitely more affordable than flowers!

Do you not like flowers? Are you going flower less just because of budget?

I think you should add some real/fake flowers in the mix unless you are anti flowers. Some subtle touches of flowers will be a nice addition.

I'm a librarian too! We aren't really doing flowers either.. Since our wedding is 2 days after Christmas I am incorporating their decorations and for centerpieces i'm doing candelabras with rose petals and votives.. very simple.. we are using 'book' stuff around as well!

I'm having very limited flowers because I'm very allergic, as is my fiance. I'm doing a broach bouquet for myself and the girls are getting fake flowers. I'm doing the small tree centerpieces with drop crystals and candles, I absolutely love the look!

Love the book idea! I agree the cost could add up with all of the DIY so I would definitely do some research but have you thought about adding lanterns with candles along with the books instead of the tree? It reminds me of reading lanterns back in the day.

Very unique! I'm all for doing what makes you happy! Who cares what anyone else thinks. Maybe check out ebay for vintage books & be careful on how much it would cost to ship.

I love lanterns but I haven't been able to find a place to buy a lot of them and keep it affordable. I found the branches at a great price here http://www.bloomsandbranches.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BBMPPN1 so that is why I went with branches. I love the branches too and I have plenty of time, I will keep my eyes open for lanterns, has anyone else seen them?

Orientaltrading.com has mini lanterns that hold tea light candles for $5.75 each. You might need 2 per table in that case but im sure you can look around online and find other sites.
