I'm completing my registry and am not sure whether or not I want to register for fine china. I'm hoping for some opinions. Here's what I'm thinking: On one hand, I think I should not register for china because it is so expensive and if people get me china my FH and I are more likely than not going to have to purchase many of the other things on our own. In addition, I'm not sure how much I will use the china. On the other hand, I think registering for china now would be a smart idea because this is really the only time in my life I can ask for china and get it. Plus, it would be nice to have a beautiful set of plates (I love Opal Innocence). What did you decide to do and why?

No we didn't register for china. I will never use it so I rather get something else.

I did not register for fine china or crystal stemware for that matter. I had been a consultant for Princess House during college and have service for 12 in every dish they've ever offered, and all the crystal drinkware too! My Nana has graciously kept it at her home. She calls it my 'Princess House Shrine'
On a side note, my MOH married ten years just found her entire fine china set in her attic. She registered for everything and never took it out of the box

We are big entertainers but we did not register for China. We probably host about 5-10 parties a year and still live at home. I can only imagine what it'll be like living on our own - eeeek! With that said China just isn't our style - we are much more simple so we registered for white dishes from Crate and Barrell with colored accents for entertaining

we registered for china, but i find reasons to use it whenever i can. we got a few place settings at our e-party, and people (family, ILs) have continued to build up our set for birthdays/christmas. i like the idea of having china because it is like a keepsake of starting our lives together, something you break out for special occasions, an heirloom that we can pass down to grandchildren.
remember that, while you may not have cause to use it now, you may find yourself entertaining more often when you're older and in a house with a family of your own.
