Ordered my invites, but...

Ordered my invites, but...

I wasn't %100 about them. I really liked two other invites but, by the time I was done ordering everything, it would of cost me $700. So I went a cheaper route. I went through all the cheaper books, and really looked. I guess I have expensive taste, because I didn' t like anything.
I brought FMIL with me, and she talked me out of the $700 ones. We found a invite that looked identical to one of the expensive ones I liked. The only difference was that the expensive one had two light pink borders, and I would have black writing. (My Wedding colors). The cheaper one was a white and pearl border. I am having our names in Blush (light pink) and the rest in black writing.
I really wanted an invite with some more color, but it seems all the cheaper invitees come in white or Ivory. It is a good quality paper, and I got my black and pink. I saved $300, so I guess that is a lot.
Is there anyone else that didn't go crazy on the invitations? ANyone else get just white invitations.
I wish money was no Object.

I wish I had spent less on my invites. I fell in love with invites and they cost 900 and maybe I should have cut costs there a little. I think you made the right decision.

invites were the one thing I knew I did not want to spend a lot on...People WILL say wow, so and so had really nice invites and right after the wedding they will go in the garbage unless you are REALLY close with the person...HOWEVER NO ONE will say , wow, so and so had a fabulous wedding BECAUSE of their wedding invites.

I got VERY lovely invites for not a lot of money... I would much rather the money go towards something more enjoyable.

NOW- if money was growing off of trees, than I would have bought the $1000.00 invites I LOVED

I didn't go crazy either. Mine are white with a pearl border an an organza bow. They're simple and elegant and I spent about $400 I think.

I think the ones I picked are going to cost about $540. I have expensive taste too so I'm trying to find a happy medium. They will afterall...wind up in the garbage. Don't sweat it..I'm sure the ones you picked are beautiful.

I'm in the same boat. i wanted pocketfolds but it would've cost me about $700 and FH was having no part in that! He's been good about $ so far but he said to spend alot on invites would be crazy since no one will care about them after the wedding anyway (except me cause I'm gonna frame it!). So I went the less expensive route and got a beige color with a pearl border and black ink. It has a matching liner for the envelopes so it makes it more dramatic. I wish I had invites with color too, but everyone says the neutral colors are more 'classic'. And I saved $300 too!

I didn't spend a lot of $$ on my invites. They are very simple and plain.

I know none of my friends or family care about stuff like that. FI's family is cool as well.

No reason to spend a lot of money to impress the 5 people who might say something about the invites.

You are right!! Good thing I had a voice of reason with me FMIL. I was ready to order the ones I wanted. It took her alot to get her eyes off the expensive invites as well.

I only spent about $165 for about 75 invites. (wer'e having about 65 people or so) I got them at Party City. They reallly have a big variety of invites in the books. We ordered them,, and they were done in about a week! They came out really nice. Had little flowers on top. I'll have to post them.

I'm making mine and they are going to be identical to the ones I was going to order that I LOVED, but are costing under $200 to make. They may look sh**y, but I'll feel good that I made something

The ones we both loved were $400 for everything. I swore I wouldn't spend a lot of $$ on tinvites but I did! I tried ordering samples of inexpensive ones online and didn't like them. The cheaper ones that were our 2nd choice was only maybe $100 less so we figured we would go with the ones we loved.

I didn't care much for this part of planning. I'd rather have a butterfly release or a slipper basket. These are things the guests remember. If you wanted it a certain way for you , I guess this is one thing you kind of compromise on. It's not such a big deal in the big scheme, and you're wedding won't s^&* b/c you chose an inexpensive invite!
