So I've asked around and gotten a few mixed responses... But for the most part everyone I spoke with said to tell the dress shop my wedding was at least two weeks before the actual date..
Did anyone else do this? Or at least wish they did?

i wish i lied about the date! the place i got my dress from really cut it close with fittings and even getting the dress in. i would lie about the date and say at least a week earlier than it really is. i wouldnt wanna do it any more than that in case u lose or gain weight... jmo

I didn't lie. Kleinfeld's has it so you pick up the dress the week of the wedding and they steam it and pack it before you pick it up... so it's fresh and perfect for the day of.
but do what's best for you.

I told them the correct date and I so regret it now that my dress is in limbo. I'm seriously dbating calling and saying we had to move it up because of his military status.

Re: Ordering your Dress - Did you Lie About the Date?
I didnt lie but the bridal store informed me that since I ordered it so early (exactly one year before my wedding) that they werent officially going to put the order in until December and asked me if this was ok. I said it was fine because that gave me time to get resized it i wanted - which i didnt.
I also made sure to write on the contract with the bridal salon that i would have it no later than June 1st - they said they have never had anyone request a receive by date, but if it didnt come in on time i wanted an option to be able to have a formal complaint.
The salon called me right before they ordered it and I got a follow up phone call about a month ago informing me its expected to by in the store by May 25th which is 3 months before my wedding so i think it will work out just fine.
Best of luck

I was lucky I didn't literally have to lie Heheee Since I live in Texas, and was coming home May 6th (Today) They knew the dress had to be here and ready to go on the plane with me. Thank god I knew the date my friends were getting married way before the actual wedding!

I definitely thought about it but i dont think i need to. I'm ordering it so far in advance that I doubt that I would need to lie.

My store said the same thing BUT they also said alterations could take up to 4 months... doesn't that seem a bit long?
