Ordering your Dress - Did you Lie About the Date?

Ordering your Dress - Did you Lie About the Date?

So I've asked around and gotten a few mixed responses... But for the most part everyone I spoke with said to tell the dress shop my wedding was at least two weeks before the actual date..

Did anyone else do this? Or at least wish they did?

i told them the correct date ... if i lied, how would alterations work? wouldn't the final fitting be a couple of weeks too early?

No. I didn't lie. I ordered my dress in Jan 2010...wedding is August 2010..my dress came in early April - so 3 months. Bridal Reflections (Massapequa).

It wasn't an issue at all. I didn;t even think to lie hehe. I don't think you need to.

I did it and am glad I did. I really takes a lot of the pressure off.

The lady that I work with at POB (FM for details) was sooooooooo annoyed when she found out I lied. I let it slip accidentally. But I figured hey, it's gotta happen all the time!

I agree. I don't think you'd gain anything by lying about it. Are you worried it won't come in on time?

Yup... And I dont think a week or two would make that much of a difference with body right? Haha unless I just crash diet and stop eating everything except for lettuce and diet coke

I'm just kidding... Overall yes I've read these terrible stories where girls say their dresses didn't come in until the day before and it was so stressful for them!

Find out what places they had problems and dont go there. You wont find that issue at Bridal Reflections. I wouldn't lie about it. Again, mine came in 3 months after ordering.

I didn't lie, plus I ordered enough in advance that it's probably going to be here way before I even need to do my first fitting.

How far in advance? Mine is almost a year away and I'm debating if I should wait for a trunk show or not

Re: Ordering your Dress - Did you Lie About the Date?

I got my dress from RK bridal and I was planning to lie and then I was so excited when I found my dress that I forgot and I said the correct date and I am so glad I did. They spaced out my appointments perfectly and I pick up my dress next week, a week before the wedding. I would not want to have it in my mother's place (where I will be keeping it) longer than that. I guess it depends on the shop you get it from.

I wouldn't lie about my dress b/c I want fittings to be close enough to the date that the dress fits like a glove.
I do plan on lying about the date with whoever I get bridesmaid dresses from

No, I didn't lie to them. They lied to the dress manufacturer! They said my wedding was end of August so my dress came in June/July.
