Organization

I am normally a very well organized person... I don't know if its the excitement of planning the wedding, but I seem to be all over the place. What are you ladies doing in order to keep organized and know what you have done, still need to do, left deposits for, balances left and the dates due, etc. Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Ladies

Re: Organization

i got a binder from target and bought a lot of dividers and folders and even clear dividers with pockets in them...i am putting everything wedding related inside....even clippings from magazines of things that i like....

i heard that if you buy a folder that is like a fan (which expands out) and put all of your receipts and paperwork that also helps too!

I'm a super organized person too, but like you said with all of the excitement things started to get very out of order with all of our plans. I had a bit of an anxiety attack about it a few weeks ago so FI and I i came up with a little system. First of all we have a mini wedding meeting every weekend. I know this sounds silly but i learned that trying to have a conversation about anything wedding related while we are both at the office doesn't work. You don't REALLY pay attention to what your talking about, and it sometimes made us argue. So we have our little meeting where we sit together and shut off the TV and stuff and just focus. I make a little list of what we need to go over so we have a plan for each meeting.
We also made a time line. I learned that trying to find a dj, photographer, limos and florist all at once becomes very confusing. so we have a timeline for what we vendors we need and when we should try to book each vendor by. That has taken off a ton of stress. It also helps with saving and our budget.
For the budget we came up with a final number and created a list of how much we want to spend for each thing. Then we also have a budget sheet where we show how much money we saved each month, and how much we spent. to really make sure we know whats going on with our money. I'm not so great with budgeting but FI is. So he is our wedding accountant. This worked out good too because now he has a big job to do with the planning.

I hope that helps. I found this has been working really well!

Re: Organization

I created an excel sheet listing the names of all the vendors & when each payment is due.

I also did this for the guest list & have columns for addresses, numbers in party, rsvp & total number of yes responses).

I got an organizer from my friend for our eparty but i neverrr use it! I find it is easier to just use an excel spreadsheet to keep track of vendors/whats due/who is invited/etc. good luck and happy planning!

Re: Organization

I have a binder with dividers for the different areas. I have paper in each area so that I can put my notes and put all my contracts in the right divider.

I have the information for all the different vendors I saw in the divider. Once I decide on a particular vendor I take out the stuff from the other places.

I also have an excell spreadsheet with different pages: budget, vendors info, payments due, guest list

Re: Organization

Right now I have a huge plastic tub filled with about 100lbs of vendor papers and magazines from the bridal shows and mail I get... I am in over my head!

I keep telling myself I will start organizing everything at the 1 year mark... ok...let's see how that goes.

This probably wasn't any help, but I hope it makes you feel better that you are more organized than I am! Although I do have an excel sheet with our budget! (I work in finance so I couldn't escape that)

I put together a binder with dividers and sheet protectors, but I have found the most helpful thing which I have created are my excel spreadsheets. I have one spreadsheet with a ton of tabs--guest list, engagement party, flowers, bands, budget, etc. I added vendor costs and was able to compare them side by side. I also copied and pasted pictures into the spreadsheets where necessary.
