Our 12/15 wedding review

The day was wonderful. I really have no complaints about anything.

Dress - Davids Bridal in Carle Place - I just bought the dress there- no alterations. I must say when I went in to look I did get a good salesperswon who was very helpful with listening to what I was looking for and showing me some really great dresses. I picked one out that day and bought it on the spot. It came in earlier than expected.

Alterations - I asked for and received recomendations on this site. A bride suggested a lady (sorry the name and # are at home. I will post it later). Anyway, she works out of the Bridal Suite in Bayshore, but also does alterations out of her house. She was wonderful. The dress needed a lot of work, I had the train cut off, plus it was ordered a bit big and Ihad lost a little weight as well. It was all illusion on top which all needed to be taken off and rebeaed. She really did a fantastic job and the price was great.

Make-up - Jacqueline Nicole - I can not say enough about how great she is. The make-up came out wonderful, and lasted through the whole day with no problems. The only touch-up I needed to do was lipstick. I got so many compliments on the make-up. She is so sweet and great to work with. Just remember, she books up early so if anyone is waiting to get a trial, or you think it is too early- don't wait. You will not be disappointed at all. I had the airbrush foundation, whcih is the best. It is so light you hardly know it is there, but the cover is wonderful.

Hair - Jennifer from Salon Jalesse in Smithtown - My hari came out so great. I have very fine hair, she did just a great job getting it up and it stayed all day. It never moved. She really made me look like I had so much more hair than I really do. It came out even better for the wedding day then at the trial. I would recomend her not only for weddings, but for any up-do's as well as regular cuts and color. I have been going to her for a couple of years, and I have never had a bad experience. She is so sweet and really listens to what you want.

Photographer, Video, DJ, Flowers, Limo's - Wedding World in Commack - I know another bride had had problems with them a couple of months back, but I must say we had such a great experience with them. The flowers came out beautiful. The flowers in the bouquets and for the flower girl basket were just perfect and lasted great. The photographer - Joe V. was perfect. He seemed to get some great shots and hw had a great personality, which makes such a difference. Everyone who had any contact with thim thought he was wonderful. He had done my maid of honor's wedding a few years ago and we loved him then too. I will give more info when we get the proofs, but up to this point I would recomend him. The videographer was great too. He was so blended in that we hardly knew he was there. He was not in our faces all day which is the way we wanted it to be. The limos (Town and Country) were great. The drivers were very nice and professional and the cars were very clean. We were very happy with them as well. The dj's (Class Act) were soooo great. They had the dance floor full all night long. They played almost all the songs that we had on our play list, and had everyone moving all night on the dance floor. I would use them again in a heartbeat. They were fantastic.

The Coral House - I can not say enough about the reception. The Coral House was great. Linda is the best person to work with. The food was spectacular and the service was perfect. They do such a great job on everything. The place is decorated so beautifully for the holidays. It was like living a dream. Anyone using the Coral House for their reception will not be disappointed. Everything was perfect.

The Marriott in Uniondale - get my only bad review. We had blocked rooms in advance and I had worked with them from the beginning regarding price : we got 159.00 and a major concern of ours was that it was a Sunday night and we had quite a few people who would be staying that requested a hotel with a bar that would be open. We were assured that the bar would be open until 2 am. Well, when we got there, they said they were closing at 12:00. I, in my wedding dress and all was sent back and forth between the bar and the front desk to get this taken care of. It took a while and a lot of arguing, but we got them to stay open as we were promised, but the bartenders served with major attitudes (and that was after Mark's uncle tipped them 50.00, that was 25.00 each) besides the other tips they were getting as people were buying drinks. Also, a friend of ours decided just 2 days before top stay and got a room at 129.00, that's 30.00 less than all the other guests that booked over a month in advance got. We were not happy with them at all.

If I left anything out just let me know. We really had such a magical day. I will post more on the photo and video when we get those things complete. I will also post on the honeymoon as well.

I wish had gone to see Coral House during the holidays. Oh well. I am glad they came through for you. I am working with Linda as well. She is awesome!!!!!

Congrats on your wedding! It sounds like you had a wonderful day.

Sorry the Marriott was not as cooperative as you would have liked. I think the rate change for a last minute booking is pretty standard policy - they'd rather have a booked room than an empty one, so they give better prices. However, I do think that the $159.00/per night for a room block was a very high rate! They could've done better for you - after all, it's a business hotel, not a resort.
