Our car was stolen! Anyone know a good Subaru Dealer?
Someone stole our Honda Civic Friday from the Ronkonkoma RR station. We filed a report. Police said 13 cars were stolen from that station this month - 10 were civics. I had the car for 7 years - it only had 70K mi on it and it was debt free. I expected to have it for many more years to come..
Since I doubt we will ever recover the car, I'm now in shopping mode. After spending hours researching I'm looking seriously at the Subaru Forrester.
Can anyone refer me to a good dealer?

I had a civic & they tried to steal it twice!
Glad my lease was up because it got annoying.

We live in Suffolk County - I'd like to go a bit more local. There is one in Port Jeff Station and one in Riverhead.
Sigh. I just wish we had the car back.

I am so sorry to hear that, I go to the Ronkonkoma train station every day! I know there has to be Subaru in Smithtown. Good Luck!

I'm sorry about the car!! That's horrible. The cars' parts are sold for parts. That's why Civics are in such hot demand.
If you buy a Forrester, please tell me who your dealer was. We are probably going to buy a Subaru Outback or Forrester. We rented one last December for driving to NC and we LOVED it.

We've been to the Subaru dealer in PJS...they are very nice, and willing to negotiate a deal with you.
BTW - don't tell ANY car salesman that your car was stolen, or else they'll know you're desperate for a car, and won't bargain at all! Sorry about your Civic...good luck with the new purchase!

Yes, I was planning on keeping the theft underwraps. I don't want to look like easy pray!

sorry to hear about your car - apparently they steal carsa ll the time from there....a fired of ours came home to 4 missing tires off his car there once and 2 others lost their cars too!

Ooh! My mom has a Forrester, and I LOVE it! It's so fun to drive. Anyhow, I can't really recommend a dealer, unless you're willing to trek to NJ. MY mom bought it through a dealer affiliated with BJ's wholesale club, and saved a lot of money. Good luck!

so sorry about your car...what an awful feeling...I hope you didn't have anything too valuable in the car...have you talked to your insurance? I hope you get blue book value...in a way its good - trade-ins barely get blue book....
but I am happy that you are going to have that new car euphoria in a bit!!! our friends have a suburu...they bought it to hold surfboards - tons of room!!

Nothing super valuable. We did have an ezpass and $150 worth of gift certificates. : (
BJs - huh - I didn't realize that was one of the benefits.
Has anyone bought a car through 'Cars Direct'?
Yes - I am looking forward to the new car feeling..although it is bitter sweet. This was the last car I bought - premarriage - my maiden self is truly gone!

Do you plan on using any of the recovery from insurance towards the car? I can't remember if you said it was paid off or not. If you're getting money back (usually takes 30days before they give up hope on it) then i'd factor that value in.
Shame to hear it was stolen.
Remember as you shop the cost of insurance.

I hear the one in Hicksville is better than the one in Wantagh. A friend got a Forrester, looked it up online to find exactly what she wanted, then went to the dealer and got a good price. Get the invoice price for what you want and then offer about $500 over it (for the dealer commission). Good luck and sorry to hear about your Civic!

FH used Price Club dealer and got a great deal on his car! I havent used Cars direct but I did use the reasearch from that site to negotiate the price of my car down.
