Well, a while back I had posted how our cat was very sick and with a lot of vet care and TLC she made a grea recovery, but we were told she would not live a full life and they gave her 2-3 years to live. Well, it looks as though it will be a lot sooner. She is dying right before our eyes and we are completely devestated and don't know what to do. We do not want to take her back to the vet so they can poke and jab her with needles. We already know she has a terminal disease and feel it is not only mean to put her through that, but we can not afford it. She has just gone downhill this week. Very disoriented and she has lost a lot of weight. It is just a matter of time. We just don't know what to do. We were discussing tonight what we will do with her when she dies. And we both started crying, because we don't know what to do. We have never had to go through anything like this before. DH just turned to me and said he is going to cry alot when she passes. I feel so bad. I am so affraid of coming home and finding her dead one of these days. We just don't know what to do. We have discussed burying her in a pet cemetary, but we don't know how much that costs. Then we discussed a taxidermist, but again, don't know the cost and if doing that would be good for us and our other cat. There is also my moms backyard, but I feel creepy doing that and we don't even know if that is legal. We are so upset and do not know what to do. We are just trying to do whatever we can to make her happy and comfortable right now. Please pray for Miss Kitty!! Our poor baby is going to leave us soon!!

I know, I'm not saying that in a bad way, its just that I lost a brother and this is hurting almost as much. Its just hard comparing the two, yet feels the same.
I know what you meant. This pain is fresh that's why it feels like it hurts more.

AW!! A loss is a loss and while it's very different than losing your brother in the long runm right now the pain is very fresh. Im so sorry. Your having those same feelings as when your brother died could be compounding it right now too, it's bound to bring up those feelings you felt them. I really am sorry, I hate to hear of someone in pain. {{{HUGS}}}

Re: Our Cat is Dying!!
Well, here is my daily update on Miss Kitty!! She is not doing good today. I think she has given up. She will not eat or drink. She just keeps sitting at the water bowl and staring at the water. She seems very tired. She just keeps flopping over and laying down. I am going to call the vet now to find out if she is in any pain, and if so, if they can give us something for her. But we have decided to keep her here with us and not bring her in to the vet. There is nothing they can do for her that would keep her alive. They may be able to give her fluids but that would only prolong the inevitable. So we are just giving her as much love as we can. She kept switching sides on the bed last night. One minute she was on my side and then I woke up and she was next to DH and then back to me. Our poor baby. DH is still a mess. He has not been sleeping at all and when he does he keeps having nightmares. I feel so bad. I just hope she goes peacefully. Thank you for all your hugs, prayers and for sharing all your stories. It really helps and I tell DH everything you have posted. Thank you!! Jaime

I'm so sorry. I remember having to put my first dog down because he was so sick. It's such a difficult situation. They really do become family.
My hugs and prayers to the three of you.

Re: Our Cat is Dying!!
Well, after a long discussion ith DH last night. We have decided to take Miss Kitty in to the vet. We do not know if she is in any pain and we can't bare to watch her and think that she is. We are taking her in at 4:00. If the doctor says she is in pain we are going to make the decision to send her to heaven. If he says she is not in pain, we are going to bring her home and spend as much time and give her as much love as possible. It is only a matter of time. Today, it seems as though she is very swollen. She is skin and bones, yet her stomach area seems to be very swollen. I am very sad being here at work today, knowing that at 4:00 there is a chance we will watch our baby die. Please say a prayer for Miss Kitty and my DH, he is a complete wreck, and I am having a tough time dealing ith that. It truly is hard to watch a grown man cry!!

Re: Our Cat is Dying!!
First of all some more for you.
I know what you are going through. DH's cat is pretty old and sick. She is skinny but then again she's always been like that. Back in February we came home one night after being away and found her walking with her head tilted to the side and she couldn't even walk straight! Her pupils were dialated, DH was calling her to come to him and it was like she didn't even see him. She would try to go to him but would fall down cuz she couldn't walk well. We took her to the vet and they gave her these antibiotics and it was so hard to give them to her because at that time she was feeling so sick that she wouldn't eat so we had to force feed her for a while with a syringe and she was so stubborn with us because she refused to open her mouth! DH cried a few times but what was more heartbreaking was hearing him every night trying to force feed the cat. All I heard was 'come on Lucy cooperate' and he would get so angry and frustrated with her and say 'I guess you don't want to get better, what can I tell you Loose, choose your own fate'. He just didn't know what to do and it was so sad. The vet said that she may have a tumor and also wanted to do and ultrasound on her and sugery. DH was against surgery, not because of the money but because she is an old cat and he wants whatever time she's got left, whether it's days, months, or years, to be in peace. Surgery on an old cat can be dangerous in my opinion.
So we have her home and like you we do the best we can for her. Her head is better, back to normal, as well as her pupils and she walks fine now and her appetite is back. In fact she eats so much over night that at 5:00 a.m. she's crying for more food...LOL But she still has that tumor and does throw up a lot so it's hard. The minute DH comes home the first thing he wants to know is if the cat threw up and if she doesn't then he gets all happy but on the days she throws up he gets that disappointing look that breaks your heart.
Your kitty is very lucky to have such good owners. She is in our prayers! and lots of for her too.
